The claim there is that OLED cost for a 1080p standard 2K screen are now lower meaning future phones might standardise on OLED, at least for tye mid to high end range.

Surely if AMOLED has become cheaper to produce, it will be just as (or more) likely to be used on budget phones. Budget models tend to have cheaper components, whereas high-end models tend to have whatever the manufacturer thinks is the best components.

1080p is about the baseline for any high end phone. The screen on the S5 had a claimed production cost of about £40 so a 4 fold reduction to a current £10 looks a massive cost decrease.
No wonder they can now use QHD with double the pixels, that I assume now costing Samsung only maybe £20. Those figures also tell us how Vodafone can offer a budget high end screen phone for £100.

But i bet buyers like Nokia and Huawei are still paying a premium for AMOLED.

Not much really happened then in 2015 expansion wise, and I am wary of believing this '100 million order' for 2017.

However, OLED is hardly used to its full potential so Apple could maybe push things better forward in more useful low power OLED screen features.
