So she died on April 18th 2014 which was Good Friday. Last year Good Friday landed on 3rd April, and the Beales chose this day to mark the 1st anniversary. Today was Good Friday - but no Lucy mention.

I'm guessing as the plot has moved on, we probably won't be reminded of her anniversary again - but still it poses the question, if the anniversary for a loved one's death falls on a movable holiday like Easter each year, do you mark it by the holiday or the actual date? I'd presume the actual date - but the holiday itself could be quite emotive even if it fell on a different date?

They might mark it in April considering Easter is very early this year.

I think both dates will be difficult. Obviously the actual date is the anniversary but they will always associated the Easter weekend with her death as well.

It'd be the same for people who died on Mothers Day - they'll associate that occasion with the death even though it moves each year.

I agree that both the date and the holiday would probably be quite difficult for the first few years.

Yeah, very true. Reminds me of Jade Goody, who I think died on Mother's Day 2009

It's a bit tricky - I had a friend die on Good Friday 2005 (which was 11 years today), but I always considered the actual day and not Good Friday to remember it by. This year is actually the first year since that Good Friday has been on the 25th again.

It's not tricky at all. I think it's best to remember that this kind of this will be different for every individual. There's certainly no yes or no answer to it really.

Sorry for your loss and hope you have lots of good memories of your friend xx

I'd imagine that their "official" anniversary would be the date and not the holiday e.g. good friday/mother's day

but like other's said I'm sure the holiday would always be a reminder/day of remembrance too especially for the first few years
