Spotify

I have been using the free version of Spotify for a good few months using my Facebook log in on my laptop and on my IPad Min 4 since I got it at the start of the year. Was using it on my Nexus 4 but have since got an IPhone 5s and have it on that. Also I got it linked to my Last FM account
I was thinking of getting the premium version of Spotify. If I get it for my laptop for £9.99 a month will that same premium service also work on my IPad Mini 4 and IPhone 5s and how easy is it to cancel the premium service if you no longer want it.
Is anyone else on here using Spotify Premium and if so what do you think of it.

Hi

I signed up for premium for a little while on a trial basis. I like it but I'm still a CD buyer so I don't know if I could give it up for streaming instead. In saying that the car that I just bought o my has a usb plug & no CD player so I might look into it.

I managed to sign in to my premium account on my phone, laptop & tablet.

As for cancelling it, just go to your account and select "stop subscription" or something to that effect.

I prefer TIDAL, but only because they offer lossless streaming. Unfortunately, it is wayyyyy more expensive than Spotify.

You can use it on as many devices as you want, but the offline playlists are limited to 3 devices. It's very easy to cancel. Just go to your account and can be done in a click. I'm using the free version currently but have used premium before and was very happy with it. Well worth the price I'd say and a great way to find music outside of your normal tastes as well as listening to your favourite artists.

I wasn't a fan of Tidal tbh. Yes lossless is good but I found the design of the service rather clunky and unappealing compared to Spotify which seems to have better playlists and easier navigation.

I found that Apple Music was pretty good too when I used my free trial for that.

I used to subscribe to Spotify premium so that I could load up my playlists on my AV Receiver, but then cancelled the subscription after a few months as Spotify Premium became part of my mobile tariff. Now I can create playlists on my PC, have them streamed online from my AV Receiver and saved offline to my Note 4 for listening to on the move & all I need to do is log onto Spotify online on my mobile once every 30 days, to renew the licenses for offline listening.

Plus if I am ever out and about and hear a song I like, I can just use Soundhound to detect the song and then link it to Spotify if Spotify has it available.

If you have a large enough device offline Spotify is pretty good quality it is up to 320K if you go into settings but if you want all 3000, thats your limit, offline you will need 64GB memory. If you listen to a lot of music Premium is the one to go for, if you only listen to the chart or a few songs I would stay free.

Thanks for the replays. I will think about getting the Spotify Premium at the end of the month.
I also use the Soundhound app on my IPhone 5s or IPad Mini 4 at times.

I've got Spotify Premium and I love it! Half price if you're a student as well

And yes, you can use it on multiple devices, but not at the same time.

A few artists missing which I'd like added, looking at you Taylor Swift, but it's great and loads of ready made playlists for when you suddenly decide you want to switch from modern rock to 90s pop!

I'm switching to Tidal. Spotify is good, but I recently tried the free trial of Tidal and found the design and layout of it much better than Spotify. Also, the sound quality is far superior. I'm not a fan of Apple Music at all...the design of the app is awful.

Yeah as many devices can use but only one person can listen to your account at a time though.

Plus if you've got student discount, definitely use it! I'm paying £5 instead on £10 for 12 months

Yeah I really like Spotify and it is my main source of music. I find the viral charts really helpful to discover new music. My subscription for it is included with my phone contract too.

I'm currently on the 3 month freebie with Apple Music but i'll be going back to Spotify afterwards. I just like the layout better and it's easier to find new music on that with a few of the playlists i got used to.

It's also easier to keep track of stuff you like as well - with apple music, you can only do that if you have icloud syncing turned on, but if you do that, it screws up your local music collection by messing with the song tagging.

I probably wouldn't pay a tenner a month for it though. I do listen to it a lot and I like not having adverts, but the adverts aren't that intrusive overall though.

I noticed while reading up on Tidal online that there is a way of doing it much cheaper (direct with Tidal) but you'll have to do your own research on that I'm afraid, and the method isn't straightforward for most people.
