That's good, better than them trying to find someone new. Dermot's a good host.

This is heading towards a Simon, Cheryl, Danni, Louis judging Panel I reckon.

Should never have been dropped in the first place. Giving Olly and Caroline the presenting job was like when Moyes got the Man Utd managers job out of their depth.

So happy he's back and im happy room auditions are back too but please no background music allowed !! The whole point of the room auditions is to hear them sing raw and acapella without the help of background music

Why can't they put this show to bed already?

Clearly want to go out with a bang. Dannii would take some convincing.

Fantastic news.

Now just get Rita/Cheryl to piss off and King Louis Walsh to return and we're good.

My money is going on Sharon rather than Dannii. Some of X Factors best audition moments have come from Sharon and Louis in the audition room, both in her original stint and her 2013 return.

I'm happy with this. I honestly hope this is the last year and that they go all out to make it how it use to be etc and this is a sign of good things to come... But I guess they'll drag it out but still good decision.

No as he will be encouraging all the young talentless boys to put on their lippy / eyeliner on to look good for brainless teenage girls.

Everything they've done to move the show 'forward' has just seen it sink in the ratings. This is like returning the settings to default. The question is whether it's too little too late.

Bit surprised he'd go back to a sinking ship tbh. They must have offered him bucketloads.

When the last show you presented is resting on the seabed a sinking ship looks like a good alternative.

Get the show back to some normality.

Remember the pop idol judges? How about Neil Fox?

It's dying a slow, embarrassing death. Dermot looked like he wanted to be somewhere else during his last tenure. I think this is the last ditch to save the show, when it would be better for almost everyone involved to either rest it or can it.

Great news, and that room auditions have returned.

Now all we need is Louis and Sharon back and the show can actually be on track to being entertainment once again.

Completely agree...

Dermot and the return of the room auditions are two big positives. Louis & Sharon back, plus the axing of those ridiculously drawn-out six chair challenges would be two more.

And no more 'innovations' like 'live judges' houses'.

A great thing about the original show was that it used to plot a journey for the contestants starting from a low-key room audition, moving into larger (public audience-free) auditorium, then an exotic location, then a live public audience, then somewhere like Wembley stadium.

In the last series, it was pretty much all in the same sort of venue, all in front of a public audience. Every show felt more or less the same. It was just boring. I didn't stick with it.

Regards,

Cypher
