To anyone who says his performance was OTT I can only assume you've never felt loss. I remember when my mum died I couldn't hold back the screams and tears.

Sorry but I felt Harry did well tonight, he had me blubbering like a baby! It was heart wrenching to watch how utterly devastated he was.

I didn't post it looking for anyone to agree but was pleased to see a few did agree.
He's a dismal actor when doing dramatic/emotional scenes and for me that is fact not an opinion. It's an opinion. Like everyone else's plus I don't know why you need to take issue with my jokey comment. I don't believe he's dismal so obviously think my opinion is of little value |

The script before Ben was told Paul was dead was crap, all that wittiling on about what had happened to him yet for him not to express concern for what might have happened to Paul was unrealistic, but once he knew he played shocked and grief stricken very well.

Very good performance from him tonight.
The unnecessary criticism of young actors on here is quite mean spirited to say the least. Fair enough if they are really bad but EVERY young actor on here even if they are good seems to get unwarranted criticism. |

I think he's good. He's young, fairly new to the industry and thrown into one of the biggest shows in British television with one of the more important storyline heavy characters. He doesn't always get it right (the director could have asked him to rein in certain mannerisms) but I can usually relate to what he's trying to convey and understand it well enough, unlike a Mr. Sloman.

I thought he did a fine job tonight. Nothing OTT in the least.
I have witnessed peoples grief on being told a loved one had died and some have had just as strong a reaction. Shocking news coupled with all the pent up feelings with his dad he had to let loose. No, he did well. |

Nah, Jamie Borthwick seems to be universally loved. But I'm pretty sure he's the one exception to the rule.

Harry was great tonight, he isn't as good as Jamie (Jay should of been in tonight's episode) but Harry is still very good, best Ben imo.

Harry can be inconsistent at times but I thought tonight he was good, his crying and anger was realistic and the final scene with Phil and Kathy was heartbreaking. I've always maintained though that whilst Harry Reid is the best Ben we've had I don't think Harry can ever be near Jamie Borthwick's standard. I'm hoping for some Jay/Ben scenes on Thursday.

I wish Ben hadn't turned up until Thursday. I think it is probably the way the character is written, but I do find his anger over the top at times. Some of the faces were too much too, like that time he thought Abi had lost the baby.

I thought the reactions of all of Paul's loved ones was spot on tonight.
Ben's conveyed heartbreak and anger. Pam was utterly in denial and disbelief, but her sobbing was heartbreaking when she moved onto acceptance. Les was trying to stay strong for Pam, yet broke down as she left the room. |

I was expecting to find Les's reaction funny as the actor can be very hammy but he actually broke my heart trying to be strong for Pam knowing she was in denial, and then breaking down in private. I thought both he and Pam were brilliant in that episode.
Harry's acting has improved a lot. His depiction of anger is still a bit dodgy but he got the grief spot on I thought. I know he has anger issues in that he spent his life repressing his anger out of fear of Phil and so he will be prone to inappropriate "explosions" but the shouting and the face scrunching are a bit too much for me. Still, there has been improvement and I think he could improve even more in time to come. He is the definitive Ben now, for me. |

Harry has impressed me of late, he has definitely improved since he first joined. His performance last night was brilliant. He has really made the role his own.

I think he has improved considerably. I was dreading watching him last night but I thought he did very well.

I thought it was pretty cringy again. He seems to just shout when trying to express any emotion. The scene where he lunged at Phil was a bit silly I thought. I think Harry Reid is better when he tries less, it's when he tries to make it too convincing that his acting seems to go a bit hammy.
