A lot of actors don't want to be in as a soap long term. For example, there is a revolting mass murderer in Hollyoaks (where else?) at the moment called Silas, and he is shortly to be in a BBC remake of a Steptoe and Son story called A Winters Tale where he will play Albert Steptoe If they were to go on to make a series he couldn't really credibly be a mass murderer every evening and a totter as well.

I think the 4th April spoiler with Gordon and Liv more or less confirms he is going down, he has lost his last supporter.

Gary Mavers is supposed to be a great stage actor and he has had a really varied film and television career. I am sure he took the job because of the challenge, but always knew it was a short stint. Playing a child rapist I am sure is something an actor would only want to do short term.

i think Georgie is confusing a "reality" show with a soap.(Un)reality shows relies on planted newspaper stories and stunts (Simon says this, Simon says that, Simon is angry with,Simon is angry with..... well you know the score).

I doubt that a frankly bit-part player would be told any more about the story than that he needs to know to deliver his lines.
