The difference to me is that we could have had this exact same scenario tonight but with changes in the way it was written and the dialogue could have come across totally different.
For example, you could still have Aaron turning down their date but if instead of Aaron being totally dismissive of it and seeming completely unfussed, you could have simply had him be slightly apologetic and promise they would do it another time. You still have Liv ruining Robert seeing Aaron, you still have reason for Robert to be annoyed about it but you eradicate the sense that Aaron couldn't be any less into it than he is?
