When Robert said he had read the letter the whole scene reminded me of when they were on the open road. As Aaron walked away he said he had lied and killed Katy. We have the same here where he first denied he had read the letter then as Aaron walks away he admits it. Robert doesn't trust Aaron to understand why he has done something so lies. They are very insecure with each other at the moment. They have only been in a physical relationship and hardly know each other in emotional terms. Aaron is scared of letting Robert in which accounts for his lack of warmth. Because they don't talk like Adam and Aaron, Robert keeps making the wrong decisions.
