Redwater Discussion Thread
Filming begins on Monday with the original British drama set to air on BBC One this coming Autumn/Winter. Six one hour episodes have been commissioned by Charlotte Moore.
The creator of Life on Mars/former EastEnders writer, Matthew Graham, has been heavily involved and is said to have written the episodes alongside Lauren Klee and Matthew Barry who also write for EastEnders among other shows. The majority of filming will be taking place in County Waterford in Ireland, specifically the coastal tourist village, Dunmore East. (with Dublin also expected to feature) Richie and Wallace (Alfie & Kat) recently told TEN the cast and crew of the spin-off show are mainly Irish and revealed a "big name" would also be taking part. Expect more casting news soon as filming gets underway. Kat is searching for her son, 'Luke' but it's been teased that there will be a dark secret at the centre of this village. Shane has teased that it is quite dark but it will also have a lot of heart and warmth. The drama has the potential to run beyond one series. To appear as an extra in the show participants are asked to attend an open casting on Friday (April 1) at the Sailing Club, Dunmore East, between 4-8pm, as well as The Central Arts on The Quay in Waterford on Saturday, April 2 from 12-7pm. http://www.rte.ie/ten/news/2016/0330/778273-eastenders/ https://twitter.com/redwater_fans I thought I'd create a thread to keep all the information together. I have high hopes for this. It's great to have the show coming to Ireland. Let's hope they've learned from the 1997 Fowler episodes; DTC, Jessie and Shane are all part Irish so I'm sure they'll do everyone proud. |

Thanks for all the info dj. I look forward to it. My grandfather's family were from Waterford but I've never been, so it will be a bit of a treat for me.

Thanks for this. I've been taking a little break from EE becase it's kind of been boring me lately so I'm out of the loop and didn't realise filming started on Redwater today. I'm pleased it's finally getting going.
I wonder when they'll reveal who they cast as Luke Slater? I'm really curious about him. |

Angeline will probably be playing Luke's adopted mother who Kat clashes with then.

Would be great if Aidan Turner was Kat's son! It's probably going to be the Irish guy off Hollyoaks though lol.

A couple of months ago, Shane Richie said in a digital spy article that he hoped the show would run and run, and hopes there will be more series. are they coming back to Eastenders?
Maybe They are hoping the show will take off and it'll be a new soap for the Bbc and eventually Jessie and Shane will return to the main show & Redwater will continue without them. |

I think if it's successful enough for a second series, Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie will stick with Redwater.
If it's just one series I think SOC would make offering Jessie Wallace a new EE contract his top priority. I'd prefer Kat to return to EE. |

Luke's what? About thirty? Angeline Ball has got to be close to fifty years old. Old enough in my book

I think Luke's adoptive Mum will be at least 10 years older than Kat, but maybe more. She's probably about 65ish.

Well they started filming today. Looks like Fionnula Flanagan is the "big name" that we were promised.
