Couldn't find a thread for this (and got tired of searching).

This is a good series. It could easily have been written off as 'oldies in limp comedy' but it's sharp and funny. Philip Jackson's cynical, sarcastic, character Alan is hilarious.

Yes, I can see myself in some of those roles. Victor and Victoria Meldrew, gently cynical and satirical commentaries on modern-day life and its farcical and sometimes sad aspects. All that Lycra-clad huffing and puffing on bikes to do graduated cross-country cycling, pretentious caravanning, hype and waffle. And then the Swedish back-to-nature young man drives off in their Winnebago. Sort of up-dated Last of the Summer Wine with shades of Dinner Ladies. Good to see Russ Abbot and all the others again. Kindly comedy for the older viewer.

What a remarkably patronising comment.

Just because the characters are retired doesn't mean it is only retirees who are going to watch it.

But realistically you can't see the PYTs watching it, can you

For me much of the BBC3 output aimed at that demographic (Jack Whitehall for example) is absolute pants, but someone must like it or they wouldn't be making more of it.

(and I agree the search engine here is useless, only finds the "other" thread if you include the B as a capital letter, who writes this stuff?)

However whilst the marketing types love to classify everyone by "demographics" the real world isn't like that, and I think this idea that people are supposed to be defined and conform to such "demographics" is very patronising..

I'm a Young adult and I enjoy watching the show. The whole family enjoys it not just the older members.

I am in my 60, and love the show, at the same time I love The Big Bang Theory, and lots of other stuff.

I'm 60 and find it an unfunny pile of poo! It reminds me of the limp sitcoms of the 70s.

I absolutely can't answer that question - because I've no idea what a PYT is.

Pretty young things? I dunno.

ETA google says it's pretty young thing from a Michael Jackson track.

Not patronising at all. Just gentle comedy of the type that I really enjoy, with a whiff of nostalgia about it. Good to see mature and experienced actors and actresses in action.

I love Boomers, absolutely love it. Last week's episode must have had caravanners all over the country wondering if their other half was really that into it.

What relevance would that have to the comment? And why would someone use such an obscure reference?

You were probably high as a kite then anyway. We can't trust your judgement.

This week's one was funny. A bit predictable but a few comical moments.

This week's was very close to home for my partner and me being two gay men who moved into a street full of newly retired boomers just a few months ago ! Our Christmas party for the new neighbours wasn't nearly as eventful as the one in the show though 😉

I think compared to most British 'comedies' these days, Boomers is excellent - largely because it has such a great cast. The three female leads in particular have honed their craft to a fine art and their comic timing and knowing when not to 'milk' their lines are brilliant.

Couldn't put it better myself! Great show. Also love Lee Boardman, great to see him last night.

You'll have the PC Police onto you - they are just 'actors' - no gender.

Yep, I'm 19 and find it hilarious but I think it has a smaller viewing audience for that very reason.

Watched the 2nd ep last night, have to say didn't like the way the male couple were depicted. Not all male couples are like that. As for the stereotyping.....
