The Pet Shop Boys are a pop duo that i've never really cared for in the past, but they have completely surprised me with their new album.

I am completely in love with it.

Has anyone heard it yet?

I just listened once and it sounded alright to me. quite retro late 80s / early 90s dance sounding in parts. the last album was similarly retro in sound. the songs just aren't as catchy these days though

Wasn't actually aware it was finally out. I heard the Pop Kids a while back and absolutely loved it, which is unusual for me as far as the Pet Shop Boys go!. Will definitely have to check it out.

Can't stand Pop Kids. Is it a parody?

This album is amazing!!!

By my own admission I can't stand any music made in the last 20 years, but this sounds like it was made in the late 80's - which is probably why I like it.

Truly astounding, and I'll be amazed if it doesn't get to number 1.

I was a fan of the Pet Shop Boys in the 80s and 90s and have there hits CD from the mid 90s. I cant say I have listened much to there new stuff in the last few years. Although there new single was very good on the Graham Norton Show last week.

Great album on the whole. A few duds but some great modern tracks whilst still retaining their old vibe. My favs are Say It to Me, Burn, Pop Kids, Into Thin Air and Happiness.

I really like Pop Kids. I did kind of get bored with them because a lot of their albums sound the same. But maybe I will check out this new album if it's of the quality of Pop Kids.

The Pet Shop Boys hit their peak with Very. Very dated sound and that's coming from someone who really liked them.

I'm a massive PSBs fan so always look forward to a new album. I like Super, but I don't love it. It's not their best, but it's not their worst. It's just middling.

Most of their albums have a few single worthy tracks (not that they ever release them!) but i'm struggling to find anything particularly memorable here aside from Pop Kids.

I was hoping for another Electric (they did say it was the start of a trilogy), but never mind

'Twenty-Something' should be a single ... brilliant lyrics; thoroughly infectious beat / melody and it's just hilarious (in a good way).

I really like their new album, don't think it's as good as Electric (their last album) though, but it's still got some great songs on it. I was a huge fan of their early stuff, but did lose interest a bit after Very up until Yes. I think it's great that after all these years they're still producing new material.

Early days yet but I would say that Super is much better than Electric and quite possibly on a par with Yes & Very (IMO their two best albums).

I'm a long term PSB fan and felt in recent years they've made a number of very patchy and half-hearted albums, but Super really is classic Pet Shop Boys. Sure it won't win them many new fans and if you didn't like them before you won't like them any more now, but it's great they're still making fresh and exciting music after 30 years.

According to some people on the PSB forum Twenty-Something will be the next single. It could certainly do with a remix though - whilst the melody and lyrics are clever and funny, the backing sounds like one of those awful Casio auto-accompaniment keyboards from the 1980s!

Super is probably their joint worst ever album, after the last one they put out. They've become like Bowie during his late 80s/early 90s drum and bass period, totally forgetting what they do well, and pumping out horribly outdated and basic sounding dance tracks just for the sake of doing something different.

As said above, the PSBs hit their peak with Very, and they've never recovered from writing something so good, although Bilingual and Nightlife have some really good classic PSB tracks.

Pandamonium and Love is a Bourgeois Construct are the only decent material they've written since their Fundamental album 10 years ago.

From being a huge fan since the mid 80s, I've totally lost interest in their more recent output. They don't seem able to produce anything I want to listen to. I did't get past the first 20 seconds of a single track on Super. A song has that long to make me want to listen to the rest of it.

I was pleasantly surprised when I listened to this on Spotify. Very 80's feel to it, and the best thing they have done in ages. Some really good songs on there that could easily be singles!
