Surprise gig announced after several weeks of rumours - and nope, this isn't an April Fools!

Axl, Slash and Duff are confirmed to reunite on stage for the first time in over twenty years tonight at The Troubadour.

Can't wait to see how this one pans out!

Jul. 09 - Nashville, TN @ Nissan Stadium
Jul. 12 - Pittsburgh, PA @ Heinz Field
Jul. 14 - Philadelphia, PA @ Lincoln Financial Field
Jul. 16 - Toronto, ON @ Rogers Centre
Jul. 19 - Foxboro, MA @ Gillette Stadium

Aug. 12 - Seattle, WA @ CenturyLink Field
Aug. 15 - Glendale, AZ @ University of Phoenix Stadium
Aug. 22 - San Diego, CA @ Qualcomm Stadium

Personally, I think I'll be hitting up Pittsburgh (I have friends over there), seeing my all time favourite band back together (a reunion I thought would never happen), is a dream come true and I'd honestly travel wherever I need to in order to see it go down. Will probably pick up tickets tomorrow through Nightrain pre-sale, provided the reaction to the gig tonight is positive.

It only just clicked with me thinking about the tour dates above that London may indeed be getting Axl Rose earlier than the rest of the crew - I mean, he will have a suspiciously free AC/DC sized chunk in his schedule during both May and June while Slash is recording his 4th album, so looks like the rumours about him joining the band aren't strictly for North America, personally I think that's actually quite cool

By all accounts the show was awesome. Only brief snippets available on YouTube but Axl sounded great. The whole thing is very surreal!

Maybe there'll be some new music. They must be the most inconsistent band in history.

So, the rest of the band members might not agree to reunite on the stage then. It would be great to see them as they are now while playing.

Officially secured my tickets for the Pittsburgh show this summer

Really looking forward to it! At worst it'll at least be a decent holiday and at best it'll be one of the best rock shows I will ever see.

Reports are saying they destroyed the Troubadour which as a hardcore fan is great, but still.....having no Izzy or Adler is really gutting.

That clip of Axl right in the front singing It's So Easy...that is GNR right there.

Holding out all hope for a European or UK show that I can make it to.

Yep, the reviews I've read about last night, (LA Weekly etc) are all raving it about it. I agree it is quite surreal, but I'm just super excited about it all and loving it. G N R are one of my favourite groups ever. Despite many neutrals/detractors criticisms I can't really believe any of them are actually doing it for the money, surely non of them need it.

Maybe there'll be some new music. They must be the most inconsistent band in history.
New music would be good!

Izzy moved on yonks ago and despite the occasional appearance alongside Axl since I doubt he wants to go back full or even part time. As for Stephen, he's just not generally up to the demands of it all it surely. And besides I think he's just undergone back surgery. Bit surprised/disappointed they didn't bring Matt Sorum back in though. He deserved better maybe.

I thought that was pretty cool. Much maligned as it is, Chinese Democracy to me wasn't half as bad as some claim and those two songs IMO are great. Presumably Slash and Duff think so too. Unless of course Axl is 100% pulling the strings here (which is certainly possible I suppose ) and said he'd only do it if they included those songs in the set list.

As much as it really shouldn't ultimately be about one man, this whole reunion and tour is really all about Axl though isn't it. Not that I mind, I think he's great and a very unique talent. Have to say, I'd hoped he get himself in slightly better shape than he still looks though. He's over weight still - lay off your beloved Taco Bell man!
I hope he keeps his head in shape and that this whole US stadium tour goes well for both him and the group. Let's be honest, its all likely to be a bit of an 'on a knife edge' ride though isn't it.

Much as I loathe stadium gigs generally I'm half tempted to try and go to one of these US dates. I'll probably hold out for now though and hope they eventually hit the UK, which if this goes well they have to surely.

Axls voice at Las Vegas last night was a little on the limp side. I mean compare the Las Vegas' "Welcome to the Jungle" to the Troubadours' "Welcome to the Jungle" and you'll see what I mean. He's already gone a bit Mickey Mouse.

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because I get that singing with that kind of power is much harder when you're stuck in a chair for 2 and a half hours without the ability to properly move around the stage but still, I hope he's "The Troubadour" levels of vocals once his foots healed up in 4 weeks or so.

None. Axl's reputation for tardiness is largely based on a hearsay and a limited number of occasions. Under the new GNR banner he has played hundreds of shows without a single hitch, and you're 99% certain to see a great rock show.

Those shows don't sell NME subscriptions though, so when something goes wrong that 1% of the time, it's "AXL ROSE LATE YET AGAIN"

November Rain in Vegas. Hate to say it but Axl sounds terrible in this. There are brief moments when you can hear his trademark voice but a lot of the time he seems to be really struggling.

Slash looks bored. Like he's just going through the motions. Seems to make a mistake at 4:56.. it sounds horrible.

Matt Sorum tweeted regarding the tour

'No sir, they didn't ask me'

Thought that was interesting, no love lost?

When you think about it, why WOULD they ask Matt Sorum? His contribution to GNR was largely as a touring drummer - yes, he recorded the drums on the UYI albums, but they had largely been written by Adler already. Spaghetti Incident was a covers album. From that point-of-view, he hardly has any more claim to the spot of reunion drummer than Frank Ferrer.

Adler was obviously the no. 1 choice, and if rumours are to be believed, will still be joining the tour at some stage after he has had his back surgery. His silence on the matter speaks volumes as he has never been shy to share his opinion on the reunion before, yet he has been COMPLETELY silent since it was announced months ago.

All good points

Just grabbed a bootleg off from Vegas, working my way through it, 4 songs in and Axl is pretty much on fire, isn't really skipping a beat though remains if he keeps that up till the end Slash, is well Slash, on form as per usual
