Corrie. Amy and Bethany going to school in the Easter holidays?

Do the producers not realise that Easter was last weekend and the schools are closed at the moment?

Some schools don't start their Easter holidays till next week.

I know someone up North who goes to college near Manchester, and had Good Friday - Easter Monday off, but have been in college for the rest of the week. However, they broke up for their 2 weeks today and will go back a week later than everyone else. It's probably the same for Corrie.

Schools are breaking up all different times because Easter was early this year

Well you have heard of it now. It's not really a big deal is it? Still at school I'm my area until today.

For some strange reason they have done it that way this year!

Some schools here in Manchester had the bank holiday weekend off, went back in to school from Tuesday and broke up today for two weeks. Some schools broke up last Thursday for two weeks. They're all different this year because Easter was earlier.

Yep, my daughter has been on easter break this week and next, my friend in a neighbouring county starts their two weeks next week.

It's all over the place. My daughter doesn't start hers until next Friday, the 8th. I don't recall having an Easter break that far past Easter before, but as long as they get the time off I suppose it's all the same. The only thing that bothers me is the cousins (my husband's sister's family in Scotland) are coming to visit this coming week for a few days as her kids are off but my daughter will still be in school. Hard to spend a day out together. Oh well.

I live in Hertfordshire and the kids had the Easter bank holidays off then were in school from Tuesday till today. They’re now off for the next two weeks. It’s because Easter was so early this year and they didn’t want the Easter holiday to be so close to February’s half term, they wanted the term to be split more evenly.

We have a five week term between February half term and Easter.

Easter has been early before, hasnt it?

I don't recall this happening before either, but it's exactly what they have done in the school I work in and to add a complication there was an inset day this week too! They are calling it the Spring break instead of the Easter holidays.

Yeah around here the kids have just had 2 weeks off & are going back to school on monday.
Yet most of the other areas only brokeup today

A lot of councils have 'spring break' instead of Easter holidays so that the children are off the same two weeks every year. Makes it easier for planning things like exam and study timetable and also stope ridiculously long half terms when eager does happen to Fall early

Also Academies can dictate their own holidays

I think you will find that the tradition of having a two week break around Easter was changed some years ago.

Schools were encouraged/told that the school terms had to be more or less the same length.

So many schools now have the two week spring holiday at the same time every year regardless of when Easter is.

Exactly the Easter holidays are all over the place now. We had the usual 4 day break and some infants and juniors went back to school for two weeks then two weeks off and some seniors have the two weeks off now. My Grandson in Uni come home for Easter then two weeks Easter break later. I wish that Easter was a FIXED time and not related to when the Jewish Equinox exists. Often it is near the end of April and we have my Daughter's birthday of 21st April, and Mother in Laws on 24th and Easter Sunday when all the family join together for Easter dinner, egg hunt and the two birthdays. I know it should not be re-arranged just to suit my timetable, but honestly......March, the kids could not hunt the eggs outside because of the rain, and as for working parents, they have to have time off work for Easter and then two weeks later, and if they have kids of different ages with schools not making a fixed time for the Easter break, I don't know how they manage.....

They've completely changed he way Easter holidays work over the last few years. When i was a kid you always had the week before and after off no matter how early or late it was but they want more even terms now (in other words not a really short second one and long third one because Easter is early) so often have the 2 week break at a different time to Easter with them just having the bank holidays off the actual week.

The schools in Essex were there last week but are off next week.

Well we still calls it the Easter holidays in Wales! Didn't have a week either side of Easter though, the schools broke up last Thursday for two weeks. I suppose thinking about it, having it at the same time each year makes sense because the term between the end of the holidays here and May half term is going to be a ridiculously long one and you do notice a deterioration in behaviour during a lomg term, especially amongst the little ones.
