They don't know how to write for women, full stop. Are the majority of the writers men. Women are mostly portrayed as tarts or doormats, sometimes both. Then of course there's the barefoot and pregnant look that they've excelled at for the last couple of years.

Considering how soap is supposed to lead the way in pushing social issues I find it surprisingly reductive. Even Ronnie Mitchell is pushed into a redemption by Jack storyline.
