Hopefully some kind person out there may be able to help me out before I flip my lid.

I've had the iPhone 6s Plus four months now and everything was sweet until a couple of days ago when the volume whilst watching videos was barely audible - prior to that the volume was 100% fine with no problems whatsoever, in fact the volume on the 6s Plus was so good it was excellent. What I have also noticed is if I wanted to turn the volume down on a video up until this issue arose I simply used the slider which appeared to work in sync with the volume control on left hand side of phone, but that doesn't work now and won't turn the volume down (not that I need to turn it down). Phone calls appear fine.

The volume button on left hand side still works but the volume is so muted there's no point in turning volume down anyway. It's very frustrating and unacceptable for a phone so expensive to be playing up, I gave up a perfectly good Motorola for the iPhone and Moto never let me down in the 2 years I had it.

It's not a dust or a protective cover obstruction issue either, phone is 100% spotless.

Has anyone experienced similar volume or sound problems with their iPhone 6s Plus, or iPhone in general? thanks.

Thanks for that link. Unfortunately tried what was suggested with no joy.

I was heading for the Apple store in Belfast today to let them check phone out but was told by a fellow Apple user not to bother wasting my time because I have to book an appointment with them first which could take a week and possibly longer, but I don't have a week. I never heard the likes of it before, booking an appointment to speak with somebody from Apple.

In meantime I'm trying on DS first in hope some person may have had similar problems and can point me in right direction. If all else fails I'll book a reservation with the Apple store and sit it out.

Did you speak to Apple in the shop,
Did you try and book an appointment.

I had my Macbook repaired at a busy London store.

I walked in and said I want my Macbook to be repaired, they arranged it there and then and I had it fixed within a few days.

No I haven't spoken with somebody from Apple as yet. Whenever I was told earlier today that I have to book an appointment online to speak to somebody in the store that kinda put me off calling or turning up. I guess if I ring them all they'll do is book me in and that'll be about the height of it. So I may as well book the appointment online myself but I'll give it a little while and wait and see if anyone from DS has had similar issues and can help me out.

I can't do without my phone for a few days, but if that's what it takes to fix it, then so be it.

It sounds like a faulty handset as I've had no such problem with mine.

I can't turn off auto-brightness on mine.

Phone is 4 months old so they'll hardly replace it I wouldn't expect unless it is completely banjaxed. But I don't want phone replaced, all I want is for the phone to work the way it was intended. If an Apple engineer can work their magic and sort it out then fine, if not then they'll have to replace it because there's no way I can afford another.

I know this remedy has been written several times for various situations, but have you tried doing a hard reset? Just in case you have not heard of this here is how to do it.

Hold down the home button at the same time as the on/off button which on iPhone 6s is on the right hand side of phone. Keep holding it until the apple logo appears then you can let go of both buttons. This very often sorts out problems.

Thanks for your post. Yes I tried that reset just a few hours ago, again no joy.

Way things are heading I have lost all faith in the Apple for life. First time owning an Apple and may very well be the last time I own an Apple the way I feel about the iPhone right now.

If the device is not easily repaired Apple will replace it like for like, they have an excellent aftercare service which literally flaws everyone except John Lewis on the high street.

Get to the store, it maybe busy, however they usually do have availability especially at weekends. I should also add if they are really busy then they are more likely to replace your phone to save on the wait.

Or go here

EDIT: In a nutshell stop listening to other people and go to the place which offers the right support which will get your handset working again or replaced.

Yep get down the store, get a new one. Make a backup, then restore it to the new one.

Thanks for your advice folks. I feel so angry right now about the way this phone is playing up so it's maybe not a bad thing I didn't turn up at the Apple store today. I have never had an issue with any other phone, the so-called 'cheaper phones'.

But losing it won't resolve my issue, it will resolve absolutely nothing. A few deep breaths, rational thinking, clear my head and walk into the store with a smile - erm... well here's hoping.

I have you tried restarting the phone!

What will happen as your appointment is that they will have a look at the phone and try and fix it there and then in the shop. If they can't fix it on the spot they will simply give you a replacement phone right there in the store. If you want they will even help you to set it up. You've only had the phone for 4 months and you are covered by a 1 year warranty.

If you do have to go into the Apple Store just make sure you back up your phone first.

Can you please tell me in layman's terms how that's done, so an idiot like me can absorb it because I wouldn't be great when it comes to technology, too old skool I guess.

Things break. It happens. Just because something is expensive it doesn't mean that it's impervious to faults.

Cars cost thousands and they breakdown too. The cost of something doesn't = reliability. Houses cost even more and they don't stay perfect either. Sometimes, things break. Cost had no barring on that.

Apple have great aftercare. Make an appointment/pop in/call and see what's what. If they can't fix it there and then they will replace your device. There is no sending it off and waiting for days/weeks to have it fixed.

Loosing all faith in a company because of a single fault in one device is rather overreacting.

In the time you've spent telling us how awful it is that your expensive phone has broken you could have made an appointment at Apple.

You can create an iCloud account and back it up to that, or plug it into your computer and backup up with iTunes (which I would say is better).

Create an iCloud account.

Thanks for that. I've actually an icloud account created. The young lady in the store set it up 4 months ago when I got the contract initially set up but I've never used it before, that's gonna change.

Yeah I did the reset as mentioned in an earlier post. I'm reluctant to do much more in case I make a complete horlicks of phone now that it's booked in for 5 days time. I'll let Apple take over.

If they can fix it in the time I'm there then that's sweet with me. If they can't fix it and won't let me leave the store without handing me another phone, that's even better news.

My cousin took her phone in a few weeks back as her 6s has a strange white patch on the screen. They replaced the screen in an hour and that was that. I took my iPad in last year with a battery fault, they simply gave me a new iPad.

Apple don't send phones off, if they can't fix it there and then they'll replace it.

If you've not backed it up they will also show you how to do that and then show you how to restore he new phone.

That's good to know thanks. I was of the impression Apple may take phone away to sort it if it can't be fixed in store. To be honest I can't be having that, I need that phone, it's an extension of my right arm just like most people's phone I guess.

My faith in Apple may be restored in 5 days time.

I'm also backing phone up as I type but will get Apple to double check all is sorted in case they have to replace.

I can fully understand how you feel with your first experience with Apple. I often feel like throwing the phone or the iPad at the wall myself at times. Apple has quite a few things to get your head around, no matter what others may tell you.

If I have a problem I first try Google and if nothing helps then I spend ages going through settings etc until I find what Apple have kindly changed during an update. I personally love it when they have in the past decided to alter my settings just for the fun of it, after an update.

Whilst I love Apple products I think it is very unkind of people to to be rude to you just because you are disappointed. Hopefully you will grow to love the product when it has been put right and you have got used to it. There is a manual available from the book store which you access through the app store. Just take your time going through it.

Please report back after your store visit.

Thanks for your post dragonrapide. I can't change the way I am, if I'm disappointed in a product it puts me right off the company. I remember I bought a Samsung all singing all dancing 50 inch plasma a few years ago just as 3D in tv's had been introduced. All was fine until literally one month after the one year warranty had expired it developed what I can only describe as a small spiders web style crack on the screen which was internal and not caused externally. I googled the problem and it appeared to be a known fault with the early prototype Samsung 3D plasma. I expected more from Samsung and felt badly let down so much that I will never buy another Samsung product so long as I live. I got rid of it and bought a 55 inch Panasonic LCD and it in contrast is the greatest telly which coincidentally came with a five year warranty, not one year like a Samsung.

Anyways, l'll update thread after my Apple visit this coming Thursday. Thanks.
