Hi my tv is a Sony Bravia KD-43X8305C and we have Virgin media via hdmi .The sound is occasionally output via an optical connection and also via Bluetooth.
However when the Bluetooth has been used (HT-XT1) the cable input drops out.
Although the input will show there is a connection there's no picture.
I have to switch the TVs off at the socket and reset the whole thing to initial setup......and it's becoming annoying! Anyone have any thoughts?
The first and second time I replaced the HDMI lead and it seemed to make a difference but it's an expensive fix!

It may be the way you've written it, but it's not exactly clear from your description how you've got things connected, and from that then perhaps you might be running things in a way that's causing (or at least contributing to) these problems.

Your TV and soundbase both have the ARC feature which means you could connect all sources to the TV and then have just one HDMI cable between the TV and soundbase. This presumes that all your sources have a fully functioning HDMI port (i.e. picture, sound and control). This would be the simplest way to connect but it does limit the audio quality to basic stereo as passed through by the TV. The HT-XT1 includes Dolby, DTS and HD Audio decoding, so it would be a shame to waste those features even if the soundbase is only a 2.1 speaker system.

The alternative then is to connect the sources directly to the soundbase (3x HDMI, 1x Optical, 1x Analogue stereo) and then connect the the TV and soundbase together with a HDMI. This way the soundbase will handle audio and the TV gets picture. Using the soundbase remote to select a source should then overcome the issue that requires resetting.

Bluetooth operates independently of either configuration. If the info from the Sony web site is accurate then it's simply a way to sound from a mobile phone or other Bluetooth enabled source in to the soundbase anyway.

It was me! I didn't realise the 3 hdmi ports on the soundgadget are actually numbered
1-2-3 and the cable from the virgin TiVo was plugged into the wrong one, corrected and alls fine!
