10th Series NOT 10 years

I've heard 10 years mentioned numerous times on television and online and it is really annoying. BGT is at its 10th series, it is 10 years old next year. I wish shows would not do their 'birthdays' like this. Big Brother and some other shows have also celebrated this way and I find it really annoying.

Year 1: 2007
Year 2: 2008
Year 3: 2009
Year 4: 2010
Year 5: 2011
Year 6: 2012
Year 7: 2013
Year 8: 2014
Year 9: 2015
Year 10: 2016

This is BGT's tenth year on air, hence celebrating 10 years, 10 series, whatever. Same with Big Brother.

That's not technically the same as it being ten years old, as you rightly say, but it's not a birthday celebration: They're not celebrating it being ten years SINCE the first series, but rather that the show has reached ten years/series, which seems a lot more suitable celebration for a TV show.

I don't need educating, thank you. Those who think it is the 10th birthday do. I

Doesn't matter, the point is we're celebrating reaching double figures and 10 amazing series!

But does anyone think that? There's a difference between celebrating X years since something and X years or X series of something

The text on yesterdays Good Morning Britain interview with first winner Paul Potts said 10th Anniversary. which is clearly wrong. It's like giving a couple a gold present at 49 years

Sounds like you need to get laid if something like this vexes you so badly.
