In terms of getting rid of Sean Tully can he be the subject of an absolutely vile torture plot by Tracy with her going down for it. Two birds, one stone.
I'd like to see Sinead and Chesney move out of the Tinkers, freeing Kirk and Beth up to have/adopt a bairn without crowding the place up (Beth's getting towards the end of her child-bearing life). The Platt living situation needs addressing and the connors can die in a car crash. Ideally I'd like to see Sally and Tim or Eileen and Michael in the Rovers
Shut the Bistro down, get rid of Victoria Fitness and replace Barlow's Buys with a bookies again or a cashconverter type store (the idea a street front like that wouldn't have one or the other is ridiculous). Actually have characters working outside of Coronation Street and the surrounding roads.
Write out a couple of families (the Nazirs, Dev's gang (he can sell the corner shop), the McDonalds except Steve who can still run street cars and the Connors). Use all the space freed up to bring in some more characterful characters and make a point to recruit actors with a certain pedigree, ideally actors who've trod the theatre boards or been in serious TV dramas that were critically acclaimed. Billy can be written out along with Freddie.
Ken and Audrey can get together (gets another one out of Gail's tardis of a house). Beth and Sarah can move into a house or live on Mawdesley Street [iirc that's the other side of the ginnel?] (do characters actually need to live in houses that we see).
Victoria court flats can be burnt down and replaced with social housing flats when the proprietor goes bust. The factory can finally close, with it being replaced by offices or a call-centre, a much more realistic place for the residents of the street to be working in 2016. Some of the residents can go and get jobs in Manchester/Salford/Elsewhere in Weatherfield.
Nick can leave with Carla, a happy-ending would be nice for once.
