Neighbours outshone the other soaps tonight!!

Absolute fantastic start to Hotel Death Trap. The Josh scenes were Neighbours at its best, which packed an extreme emotional punch. This story only looks to get better as the week goes on.

Then when you look at the likes of Coronation Street, with its painful attempt at comedy 'vendetta' and more Tracy and Carla tedium. The delightful Nazirs always make for a well acted episode. The sooner Kate Oates' episodes and storylines start, the better!!

I agree was very surprised by it tonight. Usually their disasters are cringe but the actors in the Josh scene deserve an award, an oscar even. The plight of a family coming to say goodbye to their brother / son and then his baby and ex girlfriend on Skype as he took his last breaths.

It only managed to get 182,000 viewers in Australia

But the UK always get higher ratings.

My point is that it didn't fare any better in the ratings in Australia than a normal episode despite all the hype

But presumably was played late at night when ratings are lower and would have been recorded by many, so complete viewing figures can't be that accurate yet.

It was good but not the best ever so far, I'm only an occasional viewer these days, I know of all the characters but not enough I'd miss any of them, the guy who's plays Josh yes his acting was good, Oscar winning, slightly a bit too far.

I found the lift bit more of a shock as wasn't expecting it, It was lovely that Amber and Baby got to say goodbye.

Would have been more dramatic for me, if Daniel had died, as it would have devastated Paul more, and him being a long termer. May carry on watching as didn't realise Doug was so ill, that will be a tearjerker.

It will take a lot to better the Lassiters Fire from many years ago

I think the Aussies only saw his death episode today. We saw it here first in the UK, whereas their hour long had the second half of the hour long we saw and our episode today. Was a brilliant episode, totally bawled my way through it.

It was a brilliant episode.. Powerful scenes with Josh and his family.

Was slightly miffed that thr first half hour was just a repeat of the earlier episodes. Concidering it was promoted as an 1 hour special event (even in thr 1.45 and 5.30 showings it was classed as an exclusive which made it sound like new footage)

Saying that though.. The 2nd part was absolutely brilliant.

The only thing I would fault was some of the random music choices.

The special effects for the explosion were terrible - some very cheap CGI going on there.

However, the acting from the Willis family as Josh died was amazing - very emotional. I had a lump in my throat watching it. Neighbours can pull off emotional material quite well when it wants to.

I agree the explosion effects were pretty rubbish but Josh dying made me cry and I didn't even really like him all that much.

No doubt about that, at the moment Neighbours is a class apart

I'm enjoying Neighbours the most out of all the soaps. Home and Away I've given up on while Hollyoaks and Corrie are dire and Eastenders has been declining lately. Only Emmerdale is pretty decent at the moment but I still think Neighbours is much better lately.

That wasn't the explosion episode though. The UK saw first who died before Australia as we had the 1 hour special first. The 10pm airing got 1 million viewers in the UK.

I was fine until Imogen and Paige started crying and the baby was wailing. That set me off.
