All I can think is her parents have never told her about it

If the show she is in is set in the 9/11 aftermath, why didn't she do some research herself first

What a load of total shite.

She wasn't asked about 9/11 at all. She was asked "You're in American Idiot [the name of the musical], which is set in the wake of 9/11, what did you know about the story before you got involved in it?"

To which her response is: "I knew nothing about it, actually, which made it that much more fun.

"I actually watched the Broadway version on YouTube, and just fell in love with it.

"And just thought ‘wow this is insane’, and meeting Racky Plews - who’s the director and choreographer - just the way she’s put her own stamp on the show and made is so much more clearer for people to understand..."

They're quite clearly talking about the story of the musical, the mention about 9/11 was just a tiny bit of extra contextual information made in passing.

What a load of nonsense. She was clearly referring to what she knew about the musical, not 9/11.

A classic example of everything that is wrong with the British press and how they deliberately go out of their way to cause problems for people.

They would known full well what Amelia Lily was saying. It's totally obvious she was referring to the musical. But they know they can put this slant on it and a lot of their readers will be stupid enough to believe it.

It wouldn't surprise me if the original Twitter comments shown in the article were done by Sun journalists.

Well done to Amelia for getting this gig btw. I saw her live supporting Jessie J in Reading a while back and thought she was pretty good,

It's nice to see The Sun are up to their usual reaching. That was completely taken out of context...
