It seems that once your in the BBC your in the BBC. Not only has Katherine Kelly starred in Happy Valley & The Night Manager. She will be also starring in a Doctor Who spin off. I know it's work for her, but I think BBC could try someone else for a change as people could get quite bored with seeing her face again, again, again.

What do you think? Do you think BBC are over using Katherine??

To be honest I've never been that tempted to watch her in anything else, not like I am with Sarah Lancashire, Joanne Froggatt, Suranne Jones or even to a degree Michelle Keegan!!

I just found Becky overacted & downright annoying at least 80% of the time!!
The only time I found her llikeable was when she was at her lowest ebb like after the miscarriages so perhaps that's why, I don't know?

That said I was rooting for her, as I think most were in those last few episodes when everyone turned against her because of Tracy's lies!!

I wish she'd return to Corrie . Come on Kate Oates. Work your magic.

I thought she played exactly the same character in Happy Valley and TNM. She seems to have become a jobbing actress with a "type"

She was also in Sound Of Music live and Mr Selfridge on ITV recently, i don't think we should begrudge an actress getting work!

I was, most of time, a fan of Becky, though I did feel sometimes her behaviour was extremely overboard and annoying to watch, although I suppose given the character's backstory it's hard to see why. As for Katherine, I've always been a big fan of her acting, for me she's always a consistent and convincing performer in everything I've seen her in, and it's nice to see her getting various work opportunities. I wonder how Paula Lane will fare when she leaves the show? I think she could easily have success like Katherine, Suranne and Sarah etc because I think again she is a very capable actress, though sometimes when an actor, even a very good one, leaves a soap they seem to struggle with work elsewhere.

This 100%. It's bad enough people moaning about characters getting too much airtime in soaps, and now moaning about an actress getting work - sheesh! I thought she was great in the Sound of Music Live.

I was never a huge fan of Becky, in fact the only time I liked her when she was with Jason.

But Katherine Kelly is a great actress and I am pleased she is having a very successful career post Corrie.

Fair play to any actor/actress that can make it out of the relative safety of the 9 to 5 of soap doldrums while the stuck in the muds stay through fear of not being able to make it out of their comfort zone.

Or perhaps because they love the show that they are in/the character they are playing & are happy in their work!!
Why is staying in a job you love seen as lack of ambition or fear of failure or whatever?

The likes of Barbara Knox, Helen Worth, Sally Dynevor etc have done very well out of it!!

I have seen her in ITV and BBC productions and she has been in work outside of television, too, since leaving Coronation Street. I am pleased for her; and she is a good versatile actress IMO.

At least she is getting work. If she wasn't, you would all be moaning how she has flopped.

I always knew Katherine Kelly would do well and thankfully I was proved right. She was sensational in Mr Selfridge and stole the whole of series 4 for me, Most of the characters she has portrayed have been a million miles away from Becky in Corrie and she does have versatility.

In what way are they over using her. She's done two shows with them and is currently doing a third. So what. Stop exaggerating.

I liked her in TNM, her character was very posh and nothing like Becky!

Was she? I watched and enjoyed that and didn't recognise her at all.

Which character did she play?

She was the baroness. KK is a very versatile actress.

Corrie overused Becky, made her character way too OTT and in doing so, ruined the character. I loved the SL when Steve professed his love for her.

She is playing different characters and the Who spin-off isn't on BBC One. It's not like she is in everything on the BBC.

Becky was mostly awful in her last years. I don't look back on her fondly although her absence from Hayley's funeral was jarring.

I really think Katherine Kelly would of returned for Hayley's funeral. But Katharine was heavily pregnant and living in australia at the time. Which is why she was also absent for the third season of Mr Selfridge.

Really looking forward to seeing this. Katherine is a fantastic actress and I've enjoyed everything she's done. However Beck should never return, not because I didn't like her but because her story has been told. She had been one of the few characters to be developed well on the street. Leave her with her happy ending.

Yes she's on a lot of things, used to like her but went off her when she went on Family Fortunes and donated her charity money to the theatre run by her Dad.

A talented actress is a talented actress. She's appeared on programmes for Sky and ITV too.
