ED's Michael Parr
Emmerdale Michael Parr, Kate Oates's golden boy has taken to twitter to express his opinion on why wasn't nominated for a British Soap Award for this year. ""People have been much stronger than me and Ross this year and have more chance of winning."
So what do you think off this? |

He's right. People have been stronger than him. He hasn't given a decent performance since the Ross and Donna saga. Why fans are getting arsey over him not being nominated is pathetic. Moan about something else.

At least he's humble. It's also true. He's been in and out of the show like a yoyo. He's a good actor and plays a good part, but no one wants to see any character at the centre of the show and I think Emmerdale do a decent job of rotating characters through storylines. Apart from Chas of course, that bitch gets where water can't!

It's simple. If they pit Danny Miller and Michael Parr against each other then the Emmerdale vote will be split and it's less likely that they will win the award. Danny Miller is involved in a current big storyline unlike Parr so unfortunately he has to miss out.
I'd disagree that he hasn't given a good performance since the Donna storyline. He's one of those actors that is consistently good whenever he appears. He can improve an episode just by appearing in a random, not particularly important scene. Similar to Jack P Shepherd on Corrie in that respect. |

I think it's a fair and accurate assessment, and I think he sounds rather humble.

That's a very gracious comment, and it's true. Other people are more deserving this year. Personally, I don't think he's anything special anyway - competent at best.

He seems a decent bloke. None of his stories went down very well this year (not his fault really). And anyway, he's had some rewards already, and I'm sure he'll get more in the future.

Others have been stronger. It is all down to timing aswell. Danny just happens to have the bigger story just now. |

He is right. Ross has been a stronger character in previous years. He's still great, but other people have had stronger storylines this past year.

I've said it before, the Debbie affair sent the character of Ross on a downward spiral. He turned into Debbie's lapdog and hopefully the character can recover if he's given an new storyline, one that isn't Debbie related.

Or an award playing yourself? It would be neck and neck between him and Sir Danny Dyer.

He has always come across as very humble and considerate person so it's no surprise to see him say something like that.
However, baffled as to why DS turned it into a news story when it was just a general reply to a tweet, not a press statement. |

Do you know Parr and Dyer personally then?
Even got an invitation to Dyer'a wedding Jog on back to your Rihanna thread in the music area. You talk about her as if you work for her. Plus constantly having go's at people who don't share similar opinions to you. You might want to practice what you preach before coming on here and causing arguments? |

Hes won about 6 or 7 awards since the Donna stuff so that isnt true, its just your opinion. Alot of people think hes a great actor.
BIB - Well duh, of course it's my opinion. Who else would it be? I am not talking on behalf of anyone else. Silly thing to say. |

I think he's consistently a good actor, but the writing recently has overdone it a bit. He actually seemed to be getting a bit of development when with Donna but the whole affair with Debbie story hasn't done the character any favours and getting involved with the Dingles has just made his stories all the more ridiculous. I'd actually rate him as a better actor than Miller purely because he seems capable of effortlessly doing both the drama and comedy.
I agree with some others though and think its purely tactical on Emmerdale's part. Aaron is involved in a pretty big story right now that will continue to run while voting is open. Add to that the fact that Parr was up for the award last year and lost, they'll be attempting to put their attention on someone involved in a big story who could possibly tip a win for them - Miller's their best hope at the moment. |
