Kellie Bright not nominated at the soap awards?
http://moviepilot.com/posts/3856881
I can't wrap my head around this. How come Kellie Bright's been snubbed at the soap awards despite being nominated for and winning BOTH awards last year? She's been excellent this past year, specifically even she confronted Dean. Unfair. |

There has been a lot better in EE than Kellie this year, she has so far taken more of a back seat untill the Ollie drama.

Maybe they think putting Kellie and Lacey together will split the vote too much? I think they are obviously pushing for a Lacey win.

Kellie's a great actress but Linda Henry wasn't in the nominations list and I think she deserves to be nominated

I think Kellie is fantastic but she has taken more of a back seat this year. Rakhee is an obvious winner for me but imagine the popular vote will go to Lacey who has done some great work but not, for me, as consistently brilliant as Shabs.

I can't wrap my head around this. How come Kellie Bright's been snubbed at the soap awards despite being nominated for and winning BOTH awards last year? She's been excellent this past year, specifically even she confronted Dean. Unfair. It should be judged purely on the work that had been transmitted during the period covered by the awards - so that would not include the bulk of the rape storyline. That was last year's awards and she rightly got a gong for it. Now i'm not saying she hasn't done good work this past year, she has but so have several other actresses and they are limited to putting forward 3. Personally i think that the work we sae with Kat at the convent and then Charlie dying, stacey during the Post Partum Psychosis and Shabnam through the whole year but especially the still birth were superior to Linda's scenes in the Dean reveal. Which doesn't mean i don't think she was outstanding, she was but not as good as them. Had any of them been nominated last year over her i would have been annoyed as i think her work 14/15 was superior to anything they did in that period. ETA: i haven't actually seen who has been nominated yet, my views are just who i think should be from Ee for last year. |

I was surprised to not see Kelly nominated again, but Danny Dyer's name is on the shortlist once more. Especially when I think that Kellie has continued to deliver fantastic performances this year, just as she did last year. Mick Carter has been less prominent this year compared to last.
I can only assume the likes of Linda Henry and Steve McFadden ask not to be nominated for their own reasons? Steve has been the standout actor this year on the show, and it can be the only answer to him not being nominated. Shabnam and Stacey definitely deserve their nominations for their storylines. The stillbirth and the post-partum psychosis were two incredibly well acted storylines this year. Do I think Diane Parish is a fantastic actress? Yes. But has her talent been showcased in EastEnders this year to make her a worthy winner? Probably not. |

It's possible some actors ask not to be put forward - i know that system is in place in America for Soap Awards that certain actors don't enjoy the process, don't want the limelight or even don't agree with Awards full stop but don't want to seem ungrateful by publicly turning one down. McFadden and Henry are both very private people so that might be it.
However I do also think that the Producers (and remember the Producers of each Soap submit their shortlist for consideration) are canny enough to know some actors have bigger fanbases than others and are therefore more likely to win in a public vote, especially if the voting is being done online. They want to win so they put their best 'bet' forward, even if they think somebody else has done better work. Without being funny, I don't think it can be a co-incidence that it does tend to be the younger, often prettier, and ;popular' in terms of Social Media actors/actresses that get the nod. I mean, how many years have the likes of McFadden and Adam Woodyatt been ignored whilst somebody like Scott Maslen or Shane Richie was pur forward? As I say, I haven't seen the nomination list yet but I'll bet Danny Miller and possibly Ryan Hawley have been nominated from Emmerdale even though John Middleton has done much better work (in my opinion) of course. In fact I'd say Eric Chittell and John Bowe have as well. But they aren't young or sexy with huge fanbases. That doen't mean I don't think Miller and Hawley are bad actors they are both quite good but they get much more recognition than the older actors. |

I like Kellie, but the 3 up for Enders are all Strong performers.

I'm sure Lacey will win. She has a large fanbase on Twitter/Facebook. A lot of teenagers/younger people create so many fake emails to vote for their favourite actors so I'd say Lacey has a big chance to win best actress award.
