Charging advice for amazon fire and for my mobile ?? Please advise
Justmadeit

Hi, i have an amazon fire which i bought recently and also a mobile huawei y635 smart phone mobile which is fairly new too.

My question is, should i let the battery on both of these get down to 10 % and under before charging to full or is there a better way to get the best out of the batteries as you get conflicting reports sometimes. What is the best charging policy for the batteries ?

Any useful advice from an expert welcome

I charge when the battery goes below 20%. Try to do a full charge, but don't charge for more than 8 hours.

Ive been letting it get down to about 5 %, is that damaging the battery life ?

Is the charging policy the same for a mobile and for a tablet/amazon fire ?

I thought all this stuff about waiting for batteries to die then charging was just a myth ?

Deep discharge doesn't do batteries any good.

I just use my phone during the day and then charge it over night...can't be bothered doing anything else and not had a problem in fifteen years!

I refer you to post #2.

No, there's nothing official, but when the battery symbol turns red or you start getting warning messages, take the hint and charge.

Ok, when you say dont charge for more than 8 hours, will it not just cut off when its 100 % anyway ? Or does it keep charging ?

Apparently not, or the advice wouldn't be not to charge for more than 8 hours.

Why not Google it?

Although a good phone with a good charger will not continue to charge once the battery is at 100%, it's not recommend to keep it plugged in for a long time, just in case. The battery can get warm which leads to a shortened lifespan.

I have now and it appears no one says it!

Interesting info here about charging and probably too much info about batteries! LOL:

Your table says to keep the battery cool, and keep the charge between 20-80%. I think my advice achieves that.

You said:

Not sure the table says that at all.
