Enough of the whole Grants back
Before I start I just want to say I am glad Grants back. Was always a huge fan of his in 90s. But its just starting to get a bit boring with every bit of news saying Ross kemp has the script Ross kemp starts filming tomorrow. Ross kemp has filmed his first scenes. Its like come on don't need to keep mentioning it and we need to remember hes only back for a few weeks maybe less.

I do wonder if people could be setting themselves up for a fall with all this hype. It's something EE fans do often so that when whatever is being hyped to the max happens it can never live up to their vision. I have seen it so many times. Even a simple thing like a scene being set during the day instead of at night can send these people off a cliff with their emotions.
I like Grant but his 2006 stint was awful with the character watered down too much, Ross putting little effort in and the affair with Jane. I did like him in 2005 so that stint lived up to the hype but it's not a given this one will. Although it'll help him interacting heavily with Peggy this time round and I'm sure something will happen with him and Sharon. He's the Mitchell brother she belongs with. He's a massive character but sometimes with EE fans it's above and beyond. The press are as bad. |

its the new way of digital spy. they take one story and run fourteen articles on it. have you seen the front page?
For example, Im trying to avoid spoilers on the walking dead, but it seems like every other article on the front page is a walking dead finale story (ie collection of tweets) |

If they planned it out better, you would have thought it would make sense to also have Grant there the last few weeks, Phil would have listened to Grant.

I think Grant's comeback this year with the storyline of the death of mum Peggy and the other stuff going on with Phil in the background, there is so much potential for Grant's comeback to be really special this time.
In 2005 when Grant returned he only returned for a 2 week stint to help clear Sam's name of the murder of Den Watts and help sort out Johnny Allen. This 2 week stint was short and sweet and was written brilliantly I thought. Grant's comeback in 2006 I felt after the first week of him and Phil sorting out Johnny Allen once and for all, the writers were struggling to find Grant good enough storylines. They also made Grant a calmer and more easy going character unlike the Grant of the 1990's. Perhaps this storyline will echo Grant's return in 2005 being short and sweet (rumoured to be a 3 week stint). There does seem a lot of potential for a really good comeback this time though with Sharon and Kathy back in the square, so maybe they could tempt Ross Kemp back for a longer stint later in the year or in 2017. Time will tell Ross himself has recently said he's not ruled out a permanent return to EastEnders and he's going to see how good the up-coming short stint does before making any decisions.

Peggy's exit will also be DTC's swansong as exec producer so he will undoubtedly want to go out with a bang. I think we're in for a real treat. |

Blame the tw@er generation who have to tell everyone their waking thought and everything they are doing regardless of how trivial or inane it might be and also have to know the same of everyone else.

Personally I love it! I love Grant and I really love the hype, however I worry the storyline wont be good enough. I wish it was more than just a flying visit.

Grant Mitchell is massive so his return was always going to be massive.
Den, Grant, Phil, Frank are easily the most famous males EE ever had, the fact Grant is coming back is a huge deal. So there was always going to be great excitement. For a great deal of people his character sums up a whole generation of EE viewers. Personally I take very little notice of any criticisms on this forum because most of the time it feels like people bangwagon jump on a subject like sheep. For a few of the 'gang' taking the piss out of Ross Kemp seems to be the cool thing. Yet they are clearly too young to remember how epic his character was in the 90s, Grant eps in the 90s were getting over 20 million viewers. That's was almost half the entire country. I just find most of the threads so immature now. No wonder people left or just don't post here. |

The trouble is that there's nothing else going on. They're just shuffling the Mitchells around getting everyone in place for Peggy and Grant's return. The only other thing on the horizon is Johnny's arrival and a couple of low key exits.

I love Grant and wish he would come back for good. They can hype his return as much as they like as far as I am concerned, you can't have too much of a good thing

Grant is my favourite character so I'm absolutely delighted he's returning even though it's only a month.

The ratings are going to soar when Grant, Peggy and Sam return to Walford. The Mitchells are probably the most popular family ever . everyone's talking about them

It will only be a success if Grant has influence and creative control over his character/lines. No watered down or pound land version.

I trust DTC to do Grant and Peggy's return justice; he understands the importance the Mitchells have played in EE history whereas Kate Harwood always seemed intent on changing what the show was about. I didn't like Grant's 2006 stint but the character had far too many good years on the show to let a brief dodgy period ruin that.

Can't say I'm enamoured about this. |

![]() ![]() It would be like Derek Branning being more important than Pat in her own death storyline all over again. ![]() ![]()
