Porting phone number to the same network 3

Hi there,

I received the dreaded letter from three and despite my best efforts I couldn't get the customer support team offer me a better deal so received my PAC code.

I since signed up to the £18 existing customer offer for 200 mins 2000 3 to 3 and AYCE data with 30GB Hotspot.

I asked if it was possible to switch my existing number to the new sim but they insisted there was no way this could be done.

However, I have my PAC code so can't I just port the number to a pay as you go sim then port it back to the new sim?

I have an asda and an o2 sim, I heard that to get your PAC code from o2 you need to top up £10 which would be wasted. Would this work with the asda sim or do you have any recommendations?

PAC is for porting out of the network, they are correct, but you shouldn't have needed a new number to change price plan or convert to PAYG with the same network. If you had to have a new sim / number each time you change that would be annoying.

You'll have to port out and back in, with any costs associated.

Why can't you just ask them to swap the number to the new sim? That's fairly standard.

Also why go back with a company who won't give you a PAC code in the first place? It's like your highlighting poor customer service, but then going back to them again.

I had no problems getting my PAC, and three as a provider have been quite good over the past 10 years for me. And the new sim is only for existing customers taking out a new contract, upgrades would not match this deal.
