I have a Panasonic Smart TV with built in Freesat and Freeview. Since having to return things to shipping condition and then set things up again, I have been unable to opt for the Original Red Button Service on Freesat. Despite selecting the Original Red Button Service, it keeps defaulting to Red Button +.

Panasonic claim that this is because Freesat is phasing out the Original Red Button Service. I find this hard to believe since when I disconnect the Internet from the TV, I can (obviously) receive the Original Red Button Service via Freesat.

Can anyone confirm matters before I revert to Panasonic?

Thanks in advance.

Yes as part of the cuts forced on the BBC the Red Button service is being phased out , BBC 3 is now online and BBC4 is under threat also

BBC has confirmed to me that with 13 million people accessing the original red button service, there is no intention of phasing it out in favour of red button+.

Maybe not, but I've bought a TV that should be capable of receiving the original red button service and I expect nothing less.
