between those 2 the VF SU6 would be the best option, the ram/CPU/Cam are exactly the same, but the VF has a bigger higher resolution screen, it has more storage, 16GB Vs 8GB and the sony has only about 1.7 available to apps thats pants these days. the sony does have the advantage of being waterproof and having a slightly more manageable screen size, id personally have the 5.5 VF over the 5 M4 though as i prefer bigger screen , The sony is getting upgraded to android 6 i doubt the VF ever will, though i doubt that's of bother to most people,

i have personally use a ZTE Blade S6 Plus for a few months the VF is a rebadged zTE Blade S6 Plus butthe VF has higher screen resolution. and tbff it wasn't a bad experience for the price they are pretty dam good .

hope this helps a bit

I've got a SU6, my ex's daughter has the M4.

The M4 looks and feels betters, but the SU6 is clearly the better device. The 8gig onboard the M4 really does hamper it in a big way - definitely go for the SU6.

The Smart Ultra 6 got upgraded to 5.1.1 a few weeks back.

The SU6 every day of the week. Choosing the Sony would be down to brand snobbery and not common sense. Sony phones are so overpriced for what you get imo.

I have a SU6 and would definitely recommend it over the M4 Aqua.

The only two things going for the M4 Aqua over the SU6 are the build quality and the slightly better camera.

It was updated to 5.1.1 last December.

Further to my last comment, the SU6 is also really easy to unlock (around £1-£2 on eBay).

The M4 Aqua can be a bit more difficult to unlock, depending on the network.

I am currently doing the same comparisons for my son, I was just wondering if the VF Su6 doesnt get upgraded past 5.1.1 how will that affect things in the future.

I know Android is very fragmented already and his usage is quite simple - a few game apps, youtube normal stuff for a kid - but I want it to last him a while not be looking around in 7 months because he cant play his favourite game as he needs a higher version of android.

if anyone has any idea it would be appreciated

I wouldn't worry. The vast majority of devices are not running the latest version of Android so developers ensure that they capture the maximum market by putting the cut off at a sensible level- say 4.1 and above. 5.1.1 will be supported for a long time.
The issue with new apps not offering backwards compatibility comes when it exploits a new feature such as multi window that is coming in Android N. I can see the SU6 being relevant for at least 2 years. My own son is using a LG G2 which still has 4.4 on it from 2013 and he hasn't started moaning yet about things not working. t
