Last Tuesday ish there was an update that again wiped my planned programs. I was away on holiday at the time so didn't find out until yesterday.

What a stupid bit of programing that allows that to happen every time.

Yes there was an update that the HDR-FOX T2 incorrectly interpreted as an enforced retune. It would only have occurred when first switched on from standby after 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

There are a couple of different ways that you could stop this happening in future:

(1) Install the custom software and a package called disable-dso which also deals with this situation - not just DSO.
Or
(2) Before you go away delete all reminders, plus delete the timed wake up - if you have set it, and finally; make sure that it is in standby before you leave. That way it will only try to auto-tune when you switch it on when you get back and you'll have 2 minutes to try and stop it or at least delay it until you are ready.

Does it matter if it retunes with the Custom Firmware installed? With the Auto Schedule restore package installed, the schedule will be restored automatically at the next reboot.

Thanks for the reply. I have no reminders set, no timed wake up, and it was left in standby.

It depends when the next boot is.
Do you remember if the box reboots itself after an enforced auto-retune?
I don't recall that it does. If it does not then it will matter in some scenarios.

For an example take a unit which has both power on and power of timers. If the owner is on holiday then the schedule will not get restored until almost 24 hours later.

Take another scenario. This time the unit does not have the power on and off timers set. If the box wakes up due to a reminder then with a now empty schedule there is nothing to turn the unit on again for the schedule to be recovered.

It works for me!
(By timed wake up I meant the power on timer with in MENU > Settings > Preferences > Time.)

But it's not about me. It looks like that just leaves you with the custom firmware option.

I've never touched that setting. 'Power on Timer' is set to 'Off'

3 months later and yet another bloody auto update that's lost all my settings. Why the hell do they have to do so many updates. The humax works fine (apart from this). Freeview works fine (apart from this). Leave it alone!

Humax recorders retune, with a warning message, after major changes to freeview channels.

The original T2 firmware didn't do this, and the forced rescan doesn't even work properly. It consistently tunes into the wrong muxes, resulting in a pixelated mess or no picture at all. I have to do a manual rescan every time to get the correct muxes back!

I would install the custom firmware but I have never managed to figure out the installation process (not having a wired internet connection to the PVR doesn't help).

The retune is for the Limp Dicks. Apart from that it mainly affects BBC4, which has moved from COM7 to PSB3. After the Olympics it'll move to COM8, requiring another retune, and possibly loss of reception as it's a weak multiplex.

I got two retune reminders yesterday, and this morning I did an auto retune. I was asked whether I wanted London or Southern and chose London as Crystal Palace is my best transmitter. (The Southern channels were put up in the 800s which I then deleted.)

Mine had the message yesterday that a retune was needed. It didn't do it automatically.
I have a lot of series link schedules so I take a pic of them all using my iPad before I do a retune.
Makes it a lot easier to reconstruct the schedules.
(I got this tip from someone on here )

(possibly this should be a new thread, but...)

When is the next Freeview forced retune about that's going to bugger up Humax Fox T2's planned recordings?

Channel 106 on my Fox says BBC Four HD has already moved (Tues 1825). My Sony TV, which retunes automatically, has nothing on channel 106. I guess I'll have to see what happens after 1900.

Still nothing on channel 106 on my Sony, though CBeebies HD (which normally timeshares with BBC Four HD) was available on 124 before 7pm.

I think I'll have to check tomorrow before retuning my Fox.

OK.

I meant does anyone know of planned freeview changes that will cause a Humax Fox T2 to lose its planned recording during the next week or so.

I'll try a new thread.
