Starz unveiled a new drama last night called The Girlfriend Experience, which takes a look into the world of escorting. STARZ will be uploading the whole season online like they did with Flesh and Bone and Da Vinci's Demons, while it will also air once a week every sunday,.

I watched the first episode, very strange, didn't know quite what to make of it, seemed all over the place to me.

The pilot is a bit meh
I am glad the whole season has been made available in one go because the show only has 30 minute episodes and the show doesn't work with a small running time once a week. It's a shame it wasn't presented as a 50-60 minute show, like most cable dramas are.

I don't normally go into shows with no renewal but i read that the show has a beginning, middle and end. So no worries about a cliffhanger if not renewed.

This has been getting RAVE reviews from some publications, esp. Riley Keough (Mad Max:Fury Road) in the lead role.

Think of it as a darker, grittier and better ITV's Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

Shame Starz shows rarely make it over to the UK.

Here's some trivia. Riley Keough is Elvis's grandughter.

It gets better as it goes along. I find most of STARZ's shows are slow to begin with. Outlander never really got going until at episode 5.

I'm not opposed to a bit of gratuitous rumpy-pumpy, but is there anything more to this than a lot of soft-core shagging? Riley Keough is nice looking (albeit not really my type) but the internet offers a whole universe of filth if you're after that sort of thing. What's the USP for this show?

I thought it was one of those shows which pretends to be serious but is really an excuse for some gratuitous sex and nudity, although what you see is pretty tame for Starz. Agree unclear of the target audience as is it young women thinking the character is making interesting life choices or young men wanting to see nudity. Doesn't really deliver to either. I also agree with the comment that 25-30 minute episodes are to short that is for comedy not drama, they should be 60 minutes and hence shorter episode count rather than drag it out. I binged watched the lit in 2 evenings. Would have given up if I had to watch weekly over 3 months.

Was it posted earlier in the thread is on Amazon Prime in UK. Has a "real" TV channel here bought this yet.

Also S2 is a new story and cast so much like American Horror Story and similar shows so it is self contained story in S1.
