Morrisons
postit

In this small market town we are not well served by English supermarkets within walking distance. We have Aldi and Morrisons. Aldi gets most of my custom but a trip to Morrisons is necessary when I want something like tahini or cornmeal.

It's been a month since my last visit. Imagine my dismay to find that the World Foods aisle has been turned into the Polish aisle. I'm all for fairness, but there are already 4 Polish supermarkets in the centre of town, and Morrisons have not seen fit to provide English 'subtitles'. Judging by the illustrations on the jars and cans, most seems to be common or garden ingredients - corn niblets, chickpeas etc., and that makes it doubly infuriating.

I made my feelings known to the Manager and was gratified to find out that I have not been the only one to complain.

Supply and demand i'm afraid. Morrisons are under no obligation to only serve the indigenous population, they will stock what sells.

You visit Morrisons once a month as Aldi gets all your custom.
Complain to Aldi about not stocking tahini or cornmeal.

Unfortunately our Aldi is rather small, although there is talk of it being extended. The manager is very accommodating and will listen to suggestions and implement them if he thinks they will sell in sufficient quantities.

I'm sure Morrisons will as well. They aren't stupid, they don't sell things for no reason.

Supermarkets exist to serve the demands of local communities, not stock products based on ideological views about the international make up of the local community

Which is probably why they sell Polish items.
