Android Smart TV Box?
I have been looking at getting one for a while, now that they have come down in price I am on the verge of purchasing one. Specifically the one I am considering is
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1721612727...759&rmvSB=true Now having spoke to my brother he has suggested they maybe cloned because they are too cheap in price. Legalities asside, what do I need to consider before I get one? I have fibre broadand and 4K telly, so I'm well specced there. I just wonder if they are actually worth it? |

Well you can't really go wrong for just over 30 quid.

I just got something similar (a Droidbox X7)
I wanted one that would run the Amazon Prime Instant Video app. Research suggested that not all boxes would run that, but the Droidbox ones do. We were previously using Prime Video through an Xbox 360, but I noticed that the Xbox was a bit of a power hog for that purpose. I've also installed a variety of other streaming apps on it. Only had it a couple of days but it's working well so far. I'm not using the Android box for Kodi as I already had a Kodi install on a Raspbery Pi It would have run Kodi fine I'm sure - just wasn't a priority for me as I already had that all set up. But It's great to also have access to android apps on the TV. One thing you definitely need to get is a better remote control. The ones these kind of thing usually ship with are rubbish. Get yourself a mini keyboard / airmouse such as this one |

I don't have one but know people who do and they seem to be nothing but a massive chew. You will install the apps you want then they will stop working or won't update or disappear altogether. They need a lot of attention, don't think you will get one, set it up and forget about it.

My box is mainly used as an add-on to my NAS drive so i can play all my content from that through Kodi. But to answer the OP's question, yes I do think they're more than worth it. |

Fair enough but everyone I know gets one for Kodi and to get paid stuff for free. If that is the OP's intention find a stream on the internet and plug your laptop into the telly. (Something people have forgot you can do!)
