I have been a fan of Corrie for more years than I care to admit. It has gone through some bad patches but I always stick with it.

But lately it is so bad that I just don't care if I miss it.

The story lines are so pathetic it's unbelievable. If you sat me in a room and told me to come up with some scenarios I think I could do better than the present crop.

Lets start with having three gorgeous lesbians, we will have two of them them sitting on a sofa and kiss and then the girlfriend magically appears the audience will never expect that.

Tyrone is skint so we will having start collecting scrap when everyone and his dog knows that the price of scrap has fallen through the floor.

Then I know Michelle is getting fed up off not snuggling up to Steve every night so lets have her planning a wedding for an ex boyfriend.

What about Steve's ageing mam meeting a bloke who thinks she is Amy's mam that will be a real hoot.

Oh and we don't have enough gay people in it so lets bring more in from Spain with Maria.

I could go on but I fed up like I am with the show!

It is bad atm and it might even take awhile to get it back on a even foot but now Kate Oates is on board we hopefully will see some improvement, especially if she makes some much needed changes.

I think the biggest problem is the lack of uninteresting characters and lack of viable storylines at present, the writing is poor and cringe at times.

Tyrone is capable character, when he has the right material, we saw it with the domestic abuse storyline, it's because he dog down with Fiz, she seriously drags characters down.

It's been diabolical lately.

Infact, Last nights 7:30 episode was the worst I've ever seen.

You only have to compare it to the other two big soaps, EE and ED which are full of drama. Yes, some of the Drama on those shows can be ridiculous and I don't agree with everything they do, but they put in a lot more effort. I expect KO will want major change.

I agree Monday's episodes were absolutely dire. The only saving grace was the Platt's house which was brilliant. Sarah is really finding her feet.
Tyrone and Fiz - awful. I think Tyrone forgot his line at one stage. They start to react to what the other person has said, before the other person has said it.
Why does Luke still live there? Why did he not move into Maria's completely empty flat while she was way?
Where did Ozzie the (very large) dog live? Not with Kirk as we never saw him.
Speaking of Kirk, that actor must be mighty pissed off with the clown act some people write for him. He is supposed to be dim, we get that, but at the same time eccentric and inventive with it. Not a complete oddball singing and dancing randomly down the street.
Since when are Nick and Tyrone friends?
Strange, very strange.

I used to love Corrie but it's a bit of a joke these days. I couldn't believe it when they started talking about "smoothies" and "scrap metal" during last nights episode. lol.

Just watched last night's episodes 1 and I'm wondering whether to bother with the second.
What's the relevance of watching a reality show about washing up? Why all the references to Nick's "loungewear"? Even the bully? Really?
The saving grace of that episode was Sarah's struggle with Harry.
Dire!

Disagree. It wasn't perfect, but what with all the repetitive shite with the likes of Carla and Tracy it was a welcome relief really.

Supposedly Ozzie was living with Kirk in Chesney's cramped house. Even though he wasn't seen. You'd think a big black dog would be noticeable.

After 3 years of this quality and it not being truly good since 2004/early 2005 you can't believe it?

And the constant repetitive lines about Nick's clothes and Maria being back - ugh!

And OMG they had to go and copy Eastenders storyline about postpartum psychosis. Even Maria being back, she's such a boring character and cannot stand her with Luke. I don't buy their romance, there's no chemistry. She's never been really into him from the start and I still get vibes off her that she just goes with the flow, not really into him!

How are they copying that storyline, Sarah been unstable since Callum was killed, she might be showing signs of post-partum but I don't think its the same as Stacey's story.

I don't think it's any worse than the other soaps right now None are really flying high

The Platts are brilliant though and maybe that's why I didn't think it was that bad the other night.

I have watched corrie since the 90s and I definitely think it has hit a bad patch. For me, they seem to not have big storylines, the pace is slow and repetitive and some stories just seem like box ticking with no satisfactory ending. I don't mind Erica, Aiden, Freddie, Billy (when not near Sean) and happy to see Jenny Bradley back but the other fairly new characters like The Nazirs, Rana, Cathy are quite irritating. With existing characters a lot don't seem popular with viewers e.g Sean, Fiz, Izzy, Maria, Chesney, Sinead, Michelle and characters have changed beyond belief e.g Roy hooking up with Cathy so soon after Hayley he always seemed he would be happy alone as she was the love of his life not rushing into a relationship whereas Leanne is living like a nun and was barely with Kal that long and she didn't act that in love with him compared to how she was with Nick, Peter. The Rovers is another thing that is completely wrong there doesn't seem any excitement and they need a new family/staff.
Corrie has suffered as well through things out of their control over the last couple of years e.g Anne Kirkbride dying, having to write out Bill Roache and Michael Le Vell, multiple characters wanting breaks to do other things and Simon Gregson and Beverley Callard both suffering with ill health and needing time out so it must be difficult for the writers having to write out characters at short notice and explain absences.

I think it's been awful for a couple of years now. Tonight's Gary and Izzy drama was so boring. He'd barely get a slap on the wrist for having a bag of weed on him.
