He's only joking, maybe you should lighten up a bit.
No he wasn't. He argued with all and sundry, in an Ali tribute thread, that The Rock was a much greater sportsman. Unless you obviously thought the whole thread was a joke ?

I would be delighted if Mo Farah were to win it.
Young sports personality of the year I would like to see go to Amy Tinkler
Team, changed my mind think GB women's hockey team
Coach, Danny Kerry (GB women's hockey team)
Overseas, Michael Phelps
Lifetime Achievement, Would like it to go to Steve Davis. But there is potential competition from the following
Bradley Wiggins
Kate Richardson Walsh
Nick Skelton

No idea how lifetime achievement is adjudicated but if Beckham has won it in a previous year then surely Davis would deserve it

I think Chris Coleman will win the coach award otherwise it would be all about the Olympics and ignoring the Euros

What about Eddie Jones for the Coach of the year award. Unbeaten since taking over a side that was humiliated at a home world cup and then Winning the Grand Slam for the first time since 2003 and then beating Australia 3-0 in Australia taking the side to number 2 in the world in less than a year.

He would get my vote, still saying Leicester are the Premier League champions sounds strange and ridiculous, yet it is true!

His "bar" thing was the joke, so even if its a really bad joke at least its a stab at humour which you've overreacted to.

I wasn't a member when Ali died so I don't know what happened there suffice to say its an idiotic argument to claim that The Rock was a greater sportsman.

That doesn't mean batdudes sporting knowledge is nil, your sweeping statement is almost as bad as his argument and frankly its poor form to bring other threads into your argument anyway.

Can we get back to discussing who we would like to see win the awards at Sports Personality

I am entitled to my opinion, that is what a public forum is about. And, my opinion, is that somebody who makes an idiotic ( your word ) argument that a paid for WWE actor is a greater sportsstar than a 3 time heavyweight boxing champion and civil rights activist, knows nothing about sport.

I know you stick up for batdude, in a post on the Man Utd thread you called him "one of the best posters on here". That is your opinion, and not one I share but you are entitled to it.

If my posts pee you off so much I suggest you do to me what I am going to do to you. Hit the ignore button.

Who I would like to win, and who I think win, could be two different people. I would like Mo to get the credit he finally deserves but I do think it will be Andy Murray, not that I would begrudge him it.

The coach one is a very tough one to call. I had forgotten about Eddie Jones and of course Ranieri is in the frame too but I will stick my neck out and say Chris Coleman will get it.

Overseas - Phelps for me. Outstanding achievement this year

Lifetime - Well I like your shout for Steve Davis. Although not the greatest or most successful player ever, he is certainly the most influential and greatest role model in snooker.

You are probably right with Chris Coleman, but equally Danny Kerry has been a brilliant coach to the GB ladies hockey team.

Davis, IMO is the greatest snooker player of all time, but that is a different debate. Really hope he gets lifetime achievement. It would be deserved

I've discussed it previously, I've referenced who I think might win, who could be eligible for the young personality and the possible need for extra nominations.

Didn't think someone would get all defensive and jump all over another poster over what was basically a joke.

Have you forgotten about Lewis Hamilton or have you deliberately left him off the list ?
I have deliberaely left him off the list, because i think there are people who deserve it more

Anyway he would not win, so there is no point having on the list

Heys guys who would you replace on the shortlist, so we could have Alistair Brownlee on there

And my opinion is you are making very unfair comments about one poster as a result of a single post which seems to be as a result of you getting a cob on over his joke and possibly fuelled by you getting it wrong earlier about the young personality age criteria.

I know you stick up for batdude, in a post on the Man Utd thread you called him "one of the best posters on here". That is your opinion, and not one I share but you are entitled to it.
And I stand by it. He is one of the best posters on here, I disagree with him sometimes but as you say its a public forum and I'm entitled to either agree or disagree with him. As I've already said the comparison of The Rock and Ali is idiotic and if he's done that elsewhere I think its an absurdity but you've raised the matter, not me.

If my posts pee you off so much I suggest you do to me what I am going to do to you. Hit the ignore button.
It's not about being peed off. Its about taking posts on their merits. You should try it rather than adopting a "one poster makes crap post so they know nothing" argument.

Maybe I'll see something of yours I disagree with to show that you too know nothing about sport, I'm sure you'd claim I was generalising in the same way you are doing yourself.

Meanwhile I'm happy to put forward Mo Farah and the young gymnastics girl and would love to see the girls hockey team win team of the year and for Maddie Hinch to make the nominations would be fantastic.

No idea whether any of it will happen, obviously.

The twelve person shortlist i think will look something like

Mo Farah
Andy Murray
Nick Skelton
Jason Kenny
Laura Trott
Danny Willett
Nicola Adams
Max Whitlock
Chris Froome
Gareth Bale
Paralympian 1
Paralympian 2

Just a prediction, but it will be a good close contest this year, and an amazing shortlist as well considering those that could miss out, in my case list being Lewis Hamilton, Adam Peaty, Alistair Brownlee, Charlotte Dujardin, Maro Itoje, Anthony Joshua to name just a few. Im sure my list wont be that accurate but it still goes to show that there will be so many good athletes that will miss out.

Only 2 of your 10 named people are women and David Weir will probably take one of your Paralympian slots. I think the BBC will need at least 4 and probably 5 women on a 12 person shortlist to avoid criticism.

You got to have Adam Peaty and Alistair Brownlee

I would like to see Jamie Vardy, but i can see the shortlist being dominated by Olympians

Why does it have to be two Paralympians when we have Jonny Peacock

Hannah Cockcroft
Ellie Simmonds
David Weir
Richard Whitehead

These five could easily do well. So i think it will really tough to do the final shortlist

What are you getting upset for? It was clearly a joke. Wind your neck in, Darran.

He clearly was not joking. Read the whole thread and ask him

Why does Darran insist on making every thread on "Sport" about him?

If that was the case you'd be able to spell my name correctly.

As i have already said, it was just a prediction! The issue with just adding Women for the sake of evening numbers just wouldnt work this year, in other years you could have got away with it, but who would you remove for it?

I just added two spaces for Paralympians based on it being difficult to remove others from the shortlist, i just feel that they will not have more than 2 paralympians on the shortlist.

Your own attempts at winding him up are almost as ridiculous as his over reaction, if I'm honest.
