As i have already said, it was just a prediction! The issue with just adding Women for the sake of evening numbers just wouldnt work this year, in other years you could have got away with it, but who would you remove for it?
I just added two spaces for Paralympians based on it being difficult to remove others from the shortlist, i just feel that they will not have more than 2 paralympians on the shortlist. 12 nominees of which 11 were Olympian/Paralympians. Only Rory Mc wasn't, although you could argue that Bradley Wiggins was nominated for the TDF win rather than his Olympic gold and Andy Murray for reaching Wimbledon Final and winning the US Open ( although his Olympic gold and silver certainly helped ). 3 Paralympians in 2012 - David Weir, Sarah Storey and Ellie Simmonds |

As for who they could drop, they could get rid of Danny Willett and Gareth Bale (recognise Wales by giving them team of the year of Coleman coach of the year, Bale arguably wasn't even the best player for Wales at the Euros). Then add in a representative of the Women's hockey team - you could go for Kate Richardson Walsh as the inspirational captain or Maddie Hinch as the standout star. Plus you can put in Charlotte Dujardin for defending her Olympic title. They might not be 'more deserving' than the men they replaced on your list but they wouldn't be indefensible choices either. |

I'm not saying your list was bad, just saying I think the BBC will be very conscious of gender balance.

Coleman wont win coach of the year, it will be between Claudio Ranieri and Eddie Jones. Maybe the coach of GB Cycling will be in with a shout as well. I would imagine they will want to keep a non olympian on the list to show that this years sport is not only about the olympics, but the panel making the shortlist really will have a very tricky job whittling down the nominees to 12. |

Still think it's very hard to predict at this stage but will give it a go.
Number of nominations, usually 10 but will certainly be at least 12, maybe even 15. All the double gold winners are certainties, so: Farah Trott Kenny Whitlock Murray and Froome also guaranteed. Peaty only one gold but twice previously nominated and broke world record so a probable. Hamilton also guaranteed if he wins F1 title again. Bale is a possibility as a token non-Olympian and concession to the Cardiff audience. Coleman could win coach of the year for same reason although Eddie Jones probably deserves it more. Overseas personality Bolt. Young personality Tinkler, still think age limit too low. Any other year Willett guaranteed a nomination, suspect he and Rose will either be both included or omitted. Ryder Cup could also change things but suspect this is finally America's year. Was hoping Frampton would get nominated but probably no room for him or Joshua, or Rea on the Superbikes. Vardy will probably miss out as well. The BBC got a lot of stick for the all male shortlist in 2011, however the Team GB women didn't do as well as in 2012 so Dujardin and Adams will probably get a nomination and possibly even Katherine Grainger, the latter especially if Wiggins also gets a nomination. Alistair Brownlee, Jones and Roswell-Shand also possible as 2012 and 2016 winners, alopecia probably gives the latter the edge. Skelton possible Pavey style sentimental choice. Leicester still probably team of the year so Kate Richardson-Walsh nominated to represent the GB hockey team. At least one Paralympian, with Cockroft and Simmonds favourites to make up gender balance. No doubt I've forgotten somebody. Top three Murray Trott Farah. |

My sporting knowledge is quite good thank you very much.
Just because we disagree over over one sports person, does not mean that I have no knowledge of sport. You are very much mistaken. |

Skelton possible Pavey style sentimental choice. Similarly, picking Skelton over Dujardin isn't really sport related, and a lot because he's older, and it's even more obvious Pavey goes on the list over the many people who did more this year. None of them should get a non over the likes of Peaty who achieved something amazing this year, but happens to be younger. The Lifetime Achievement Award is for people who have achieved over many years, but if need be, they could come up with some other award for the athletes with a great story. |

The Lifetime Achievement award will be interesting this year, last year with AP McCoy's retirement he was an obvious pick, but who will be next? Of course the recipient doesn't have to be British (Seve Ballesteros won the award twice, Bjorn Borg, Pele and Martina Navratilova have also won it as well). But you get the sense that with the SPOTY ceremony primarily being about team GB that they will choose a British winner to add the the celebrations. Whether or not it is an Olympian is another question, will the go for a completely left field choice?
Ive probably missed some very good names out but i would go for one of Jonny Wilkinson Sir Alex Ferguson (for second time) Sir Clive Woodward Steve Davis Stephen Hendry Lennox Lewis Sir Jackie Stewart Surpirse Choices William Fox Pitt, Pete Sampras, Usain Bolt, Michael Phelps. People like Andy Murray, Alistair Cook and Lewis Hamilton will be obvious picks once they have retired. |

His story is great but there are better champions on the short list so I can see a mixture of votes and the winner could possibly have a low vote count ,which would help the likes of farah who has stated he does not think he will win , he may be pleasantly surprised on the night

The only thing against Murray is that he's won it twice already.
The advantage Mo has is that he hasn't won it at all and maybe won't get another chance. |

Look. Whoever is in it, the BBC will try and make us vote for Fatah, but Murray will probably won. I can't see anyone else getting close.
