We all get your Murray love because of your location BUT your seriously deluded on the Murray favourite with the public , maybe Stirling university ! I watched the last leg last night and EVERY Paralympian on that show had personality ,in fact IDE rather see the short list made up of Paralympic athletes because they all have massive personalitys , Andy Murray sends everyone to sleep before he opens his mouth - Murray lacks the human touch and have another look at his picture holding the flag pole - he looks scary with that false smile , Frankenstein comes to mind when I saw that picture - no no no
1st farah 2nd storey 3rd Trott Let's start getting the forecasts inn ![]()

These are the odds for who will win BBC's Sports Personality Of The Year award 2016 with Skybet (other bookies are available) who do you think will win it?
Anthony Joshua 4/1 Jamie Vardy 9/2 Jessica Ennis-Hill 8/1 Danny Willett 8/1 Katarina Johnson-Thompson 9/1 Andy Murray 10/1 Laura Trott 16/1 Mo Farah 16/1 Lewis Hamilton 20/1 Bradley Wiggins 25/1 Harry Kane 28/1 Adam Peaty 33/1 Dele Alli 33/1 Chris Froome 33/1 Max Whitlock 33/1 Rory McIlroy 33/1 Jason Kenny 33/1 Wayne Rooney 33/1 Mark Cavendish 40/1 James Guy 40/1 Johanna Konta 50/1 Dina Asher-Smith 50/1 Greg Rutherford 50/1 Ronnie O'Sullivan 50/1 Johnnie Peacock 66/1 Nicola Adams 66/1 Amir Khan 66/1 Charlotte Dujardin 66/1 Tom Daley 66/1 Gareth Bale 66/1 Lizzie Armistead 66/1 David Weir 66/1 Joe Hart 66/1 Tyson Fury 66/1 Raheem Sterling 66/1 Daniel Sturridge 66/1 Siobhan Marie O'Connor 80/1 Jamie Murray 80/1 Dame Sarah Storey 80/1 Gary Cahill 100/1 Lee Pearson 100/1 Geraint Thomas 100/1 Phil Taylor 100/1 Joe Root 100/1 Theo Walcott 100/1 Aled Davies 100/1 Jack Wilshere 100/1 Ellie Simmonds 100/1 Gary Anderson 100/1 Gordon Reid 125/1 Jordanne Whiley 150/1 Marcus Rashford 150/1 Paul Casey 200/1 Jenson Button 200/1 Chris Robshaw 200/1 Ian Poulter 200/1 Lucy Bronze 200/1 Ben Stokes 200/1 Sam Burgess 200/1 Tai Woffinden 200/1 Eoin Morgan 500/1 Jos Buttler 500/1 Alex Hales 500/1 Personally, at the moment I think Anthony Joshua is definitely my choice but then, we don't know how the rest of the year will pan out. Could someone else come out and snatch it from him? Is it worth backing somebody else at slighty bigger odds? |

Looking back on the opening post about this topic, it certainly does look like a fair few people were not even on that list that now deserve to be!

No , they are the odds compiled for contenders 6 months ago I think ,Joshua was originally a front runner and there has been a few who have now drifted out - vardy-Willet

Rightly or wrongly the TUE leak has probably put paid to Wiggins's chances of a nomination.

After seeing the dramatic scenes overnight my vote will go to Jonny Brownlee. That was an amazing and dramatic piece of sportsmanship and brotherly care.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/triathlon/37402716 Why he's not even featured on that long list of betting I don't know. |

I assume you meant Alistair? I still wasn't entirely sure if he'd make the shortlist despite winning in Rio but he certainly will now.

If they were my sons I would be literally bursting with pride at such brotherly support, sportsmanship and everything else. To top it off, Alistair said he would have done it for any runner, and I believe he would too. Wonderful, wonderful scenes. True Brits. |

I can. The coverage he's got today will endear Ali to the public but more importantly those who draw up the shortlist.

The shortlist I think will consist of nothing but people who competed either in the Paralympics or the Olympics, I just cannot see anyone else from outside of the Rio games getting a look in.

Willett may be on it, would be surprised if Bale made it, Hamilton will be on it again if he wins another world title.
I think the following will definitely be on the shortlist:- Mo Farah Andy Murray Max Whitlock Laura Trott Jason Kenny Chris Froome Kadeena Cox Sarah Storey Lewis Hamilton - if he wins the world title That leaves 3/4 other places if we assume a shortlist of 12. I've listed some strong contenders below & listed them in order of who I think are most likely to make the cut. It'll be a tough task though and rather them than me. Adam Peaty = yes 'only' 1 gold but it was a dominant performance in World Record time + it's been almost 30 years since a British man won Olympic gold & he's only the 2nd British swimmer to hold all major titles at same time. Maddie Hinch/Kate Richardson-Walsh. = Given Leicester will likely win team award I think a nomination for 1 of the Hockey champs is a strong shout. Maddie for me had a bigger impact in Rio but I couldn't argue against Captain Kate Nick Skelton/Charlotte Dujardin = Only 1 will get a nomination. Skelton is a great story but I'm not as confident as others he'll be on list. Wouldn't rule out Dujardin, her & Valegro have had an incredible few years . Danny Willet = Any other year & he'd be a shoo-in to make shortlist but could miss out Alistair Brownlee = Leaving aside his actions last night back to back Olympic golds in a tough sport like Triathlon is very impressive & may not be repeated for some time. Hannah Cockcroft = If a 3rd Paralympian makes the shortlist it will be her Would be surprised if anyone else made the short list. It does mean some worthy candidates will miss out but unavoidable this year. |

The BBC will feel obligated to include at least a couple of non-Olympians/Paralympians.

I reckon before the events of last night, Alistair Brownlee probably would have missed out on the short list, but in many ways what he did last night encapsulates the essence of what SPOTY is about in so much as the image of him helping his brother across the line is one that has captured the public imagination and will be remembered long after the name of the person who won the race is forgotten by most. It was a moment that transcended sport. So I feel now he is close to a dead cert to be included.

Why so, the outstanding amount of people that were in Rio shows that this should be a Rio only list.

It's sounds great in theory but it has to have more sport than just Rio , the masters - Tour de France possible F1 title just can not be swept under the carpet ,they are some of the most watched sporting events in the world , Danny Willet putting on the green jacket is the stuff of legends that can not be just passed over ! It needs to be recognised
![]() Amy other year Willet winning the green jacket would of course be in, but this is no ordinary year, and the sheer amount of extraordinary success in Rio just puts his achievement in the shade unfortunately. |

Well I'm sure Danny Willets masters win is equal to single gold medalist winner SO if the short list is going to be made up of Rio champions then double/ treble golds is more likely going to be the cut ! If not then the short list will have 100plus
so how many Olympians / Paralympians were there that won double/treble golds ? This could be the easy way to compile the short list

Personally, I think if Justin Rose has another great Ryder Cup he has more of a chance of being shortlisted than Willet. It has to be remembered that it's about making an impact with the public as much as anything else, and I think Willet's major win actually made less of an impact than Rose at the Olympics. Odds are I think neither will make it though.
