How is it a dig ? Isn't it a fact ? It is what you have been saying so how is that a dig ?
Why the need to be so specific to that poster?

Some sports seem to always be ignored, Snooker for instance, when was the last time a snooker player was even nominated. Ronnie O'Sullivan does have a point. He has also been harshly done by in years gone by with no nominations in recent years.

The nominations arent too bad this year but there are some omissions that are more deserving of being nominated than others who are on the list. Bale and Vardy shouldnt be anywhere near the list. Their achievements this year were team achievements and it is harsh on a lot of very good sportsmen and women that deserved the nominations more.
Maybe a certain snooker player who retired earlier this year will get lifetime achievement award. Would be deserved accolade were this person to win, and two other potential winners of the lifetime achievement award have been nominated for main award (KRW & NS)

Kate Richardson Walsh and Nick Skelton will never win the Lifetime Achievement award in my opinion. There are also more people deserving of the award as well. And if you are nominated for the main award then Lifetime Achievement will definitely not be for the nominees. It would be nice for Steve Davis to win the award, i hope he does. It will be very interesting to see who they pick.

And a man who has a decent SPOTY top 3 record too.

I reckon it could be Steve. Just got this feeling.

Top 10 nominations for the Young Sports Personality.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/sports-personality/38087424

I see this going to either Amy Tinkler or Ellie Robinson. Amy would get my vote & she should win but my only fear is that as Gymnasts have won this award for the last 2 years it may go elsewhere. That would be a shame as Amy's achievement is obviously greater than Fragapane's or Ellie Downie's

Plus the BBC have lots of footage to use in the VT of his career, which always helps these things, more so then if it were a person who they had to apply permission to get footage of.

Ellie Robinson must be the big favourite.

I think she will edge it also, but probably not by much.

Steve deserves the lifetime achievement, I would be interested to know how this one is awarded.

It is decided by senior management in BBC Sport.

Likeable guy. Done an enormous amount for snooker and sport in general. Great role model. Still involved in the game. In short he ticks all the boxes

Other possible contenders ? Not sure. Bradley Wiggins perhaps ? Joe Calzaghe ? Tanni Grey Thompson ? Just thinking of British stars who have excelled incredibly in their sport.

I was just thinking names out loud of the top of my head. Calzaghe as Britain's greatest ever boxer and Wiggins as this year is his last in majors I believe.

Could well be somebody we haven't even thought of, doesn't have to be a recent star as past winners have proven

The BBC will want to give the Lifetime Achievement award to someone that they put together a good VT package of, and snooker is one of the few sports still left to them of which they can do so.
So Steve has a great chance of getting it due to that reason alone, nrvermind his great career that he has had.
It is one reason why for example, he would be ahead in any order of say Kobe Bryant, who has just recently retired after a tremendous career both at Olympic level and at club level.
But alas, the BBC don't have any or much footage of him in action, so he will not be as high up the pecking order as Steve might be.

Sir Bradley hasn't officially retired yet, so I don't think he is eligible for the award just yet is he?

Does the Lifetime award have to go to someone British? I thought that it was open to all nationalities?

your mind works in weird ways

you really think the BBC is going to give a lifetime achievement award to steve davis over kobe bryant purely because of what sort of VT they can put together ...

kobe bryant wont be considered as the vast majority of people in the UK probably dont even know what he looks like and if michael jordan couldn't win it then kobe bryant isn't going to

I was simply saying that Steve is an easy pick, as they have all the tools available to make him look as good as possible, other contenders don't quite have that, as worthy as their claims most certainly are.

and i am simply saying that making a decision on who is most deserving of a lifetime achievement award based on whether thay have much VT of them to use would make no sense

and i repeat if michael jordan was not deserving of a lifetime achievement award then i highly doubt kobe bryant is

basketball just isn't well enough known in the UK for it to happen

This is not the first time you have mentioned Kobe Bryant in relation to the Lifetime award.

You must be on the wind-up.

I am most certainly not on "the wind up", I can assure you of that.
