Hmmm well, just logged in to My BT and saw this:

"Unlimited Broadband with BT Infinity 1

Your current plan includes:

Unlimited usage

Unlimited usage
Up to 52Mb download speed. Up to 9.5Mb upload speed."

I'm not seeing those speeds, and I haven't been in touch with BT for a re-contract. Maybe they just changed it to bring it in line with the actual package speed...

Same thing in my account, but as with you not seeing those speeds. Router is connected at 39950/9995 even after re-boot. Oh well

Mine shows the same, but when I first ordered infinity I was told my maximum line speed would only be around 30mbps due to how far I'm away from the exchange so I'm not expecting to see anywhere near 52mb.
So perhaps the distance from your exchange is the reason why you're not reaching those speeds either.

I've had Infinity 2 in the past and was getting near to 80Mb. So not the cabinet distance in my case.

I don't have a sync speed showing, i'm on FTTP. I was just a bit surprised to see it there lol.

Hi Pete I logged into my BT and it says I will have up to 52mbps guess it's wait and see but it is a brand new contract so hopefully it will have the new speeds.

I mentioned that i'd heard about the 55mbs upgrade and was interested and don't mind recontracting if the price is right.
The op checked my account confirmed the speed increase is available in my area and said i will keep my discount of £12p/m too so i get 55mbs unlimited bb plus weekend calls for £29.99p/m.

Just called BT to have them regrade me - they said no need, the speed on Infinity 1 will automatically increase from up to 38mb, to 52mb on the 29th of April 2016

I noticed when I logged in to my account earlier that any reference to the 52Mb has been removed and it now just says Unlimited Infinity 1 in the 'My Products' bit.

Both BT Infinity 1 products are now listed on their website as "up to 52Mbps" as standard. Looks like everyone on Inf 1 gets the boost, if their line can handle it. I don't see how they could argue otherwise as they also say "Now up-to 52MB; the fastest fibre speeds as standard".

They'll likely get their money back by selling BT TV packages to more Infinity 1 customers.

Yeah I noticed that as well. Suppose will just have to wait until the 29th to see what happens, though I'm not expecting much of an increase if any.

I am still none the wiser as to whats happening with this speed increase

Conflicting information from BT its self....

According to uswitch, you will need to recontract foir a year to get the upgrade.

http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/new...2mbps_upgrade/

In the absence of a denial by BT, I'd assume that it's correct and that BT's "up to 52Mbps as standard" promotion is a misleading claim. Of course, if there is enough of a fuss about it, they may be forced to change their policy and either upgrade anyway or at least tell the truth in their advertising, writ large. Because if you have to recontract or be a new customer, it ain't standard. Weasel words.

To re=contract will put my price up by £15 a month - I would loose my discount I am currently getting

Where did the 29th April come from I was told about by one BT employee?

Recontracting with BT has always meant you keep your discounts for the agreed period in the past. You just lose the ability to renegotiate after your discounts expire, until the new contract ends. I wouldn't recontract though unless and until it's all been clarified as for most people, the extra speed will be only a minor enhancement (or none at all).

for me as I am just round the corner from the cabinet I would get the full wack - as I get 39meg now!
