If u recontract and were on the up to 38mb inf 1. Is it an instant switch to up to 52, or does someone need to visit exchange etc ?

They give you an activation date, for me it was the next working day!

Thanks. Do they recharge you the activation fee then ?

I think this was mentioned further back too but it looks like they will upgrade to 52Mb FOC after 3rd July, so if you are not desperate to get 52Mb now, you may as well wait until July:

"Upgrades we're making to your service from 3 July 2016
We're increasing the speed of your BT Infinity: At the moment, you're getting a maximum speed of up to 38Mb. We're making that even faster by increasing it to up to 52Mb. You don't need to do anything – we'll simply let you know when it's done."

I think they must be sending out the emails about the pricing and upgrade changes in batches. My wife got hers on Friday but I haven't had one yet. It also mentions "a great deal" but the link doesn't work. My wife isn't the primary ID, so I'm expecting to have a link in my email when it arrives that does work! Hopefully with a £10 per month deal that others have mentioned!!!

I've just plugged our details in and they're offering us unlimited Infinity 1 for £10 on a 12 month contract too. We haven't had a letter or email about this though. We're currently paying £7.30 for unlimited normal broadband which runs out at the end of August. They've offered us Infinity loads of times in the past, but it's only ever been a couple of quid below the card rate for existing customers.

We have a retail Youview box and subscribe to Neflix through this. I watch BT Sport via Chromecast on the second tv in the house. We wouldn't be interested in BTTV, as it is my understanding that Infinity will only work through the master socket in the house, and BT don't have any wifi enabled Youview boxes. Our current broadband doesn't cope very well on those occasions when my OH wants to watch her programmes on catch up on the Youview box at the same time as I want to watch sport via Chromecast. Presumably Infinity would be able to cope with this scenario, together with when we have a house full on several occasions throughout the year.

I clicked the link that was above - and had the offer of speed increase and at same price I currently have

Estimated speed 54-55 Mbps on Infinity 1 - happy with that!

My email was inf 1 at 18 quid 24 months or inf 2 at 22.50 12 months.

I've just phoned them and without any hassle got inf 2 at 17.50 12 months.

I will need to negotiate next time as not paying full whack for inf 2.

Having signed up for a new contact last week because i was previously out of contract, i have just checked my online account and i am only getting BT Sport Lite Surely i must be entitled to the full BT Package as what i negotiated on the phone was exactly the same as the offer on the website. I will pay £29.00 per month including line rental and BT Infinity 1 52mb.

They didn't charge me any activation fee again. To be honest, I can't see how they could, as my service was already 'activated'. They can't 're-activate' an active service and make a charge for it as far as I know!

I signed up last month. I have not seen any speed increase and currently getting 38mbps please note that is with my phone as I don't have a desktop. I wonder if I will get quicker in July although when I signed up it said up to 52mb but that might be a standard thing for them to say now.

Exact same situation here, I was informed that my line could get up to 49mbps but still on 38mbps a week after the supposed upgrade. I'm giving it another week then I'll complain about being conned into re-contracting.

I have sort of same untrust with bt. I changed to inf 2 and now getting around 51 down, 8 up. I previously got 37/38 down, 8 up.
To me seems I'm just on new inf 1 but they say it's 2. It very well might be what my line supports but is too convenient to top of inf 1 to give me this distrust. My upload side hasn't budged a bit.

Give them a call and request a downgrade to Infinity 1.

I did but my offer on inf 2 was 17.50 12 months. They said their best inf 1 contract on 12 months was 20 pounds, so no point really

Had my email from BT today. Upgrades to service and changes to monthly prices. No mention at all of increasing from 38Mbps to 52Mbps, and the 'offer' link just threw up an error message. We shall see what the future holds on that front...

I've just been in the phone to BT and there is no need to sign a new contract as everybody who is on 38mps will be upgraded to 54mps on the 3rd of July anyway.

I think it's a bit of a con and very misleading but the guy whom I spoke to didn't seem to think so.

It implies that the only way to get the upgrade to 54mps is to sign a new contract and the fact that it says it has to be done before the 2nd of July is because after that it will be upgraded anyway the day after!!!

But by that point you are already in a new 12 month contract!

Same email I got yesterday, I forwarded it to the guy that I was on the phone to and he was surprised I received the email.

True, but they have been offering some pretty good deals for re-contracting. I got unlimited Infinity 1 for £10/month. They upgraded me to 55Mb the next day. So I got the speed upgrade quicker and a reduction in cost.

Did they offer a re-contract for the exact same service at a reduced price or did you re-contract for 12 months AND upgrade something? I already have unlimited infinity 1 38Mb and pay £25 now. If I do nothing, I expect to pay £26 from July and get 52Mb but would obviously rather be paying £10! There must be a limit to how many will get a £10 deal or a reason why they get a £10 deal, or BT aren't going to make any money from their price increase!!

They will as a lot of people don't read what they consider to be junk mail even though it's from their supplier

I was already on Infinity 1 paying £12 odd a month (previous retention offer). My contract wasn't up until October, but I still got the £10/month offer. I was quite surprised myself tbh, given how long my contract had to run. Net result is I'm paying £1 less a month after the line rental increase.
