In fairness, there's no reason why the puppeteer shouldn't have decent general knowledge, even if the set-up is ridiculous.

Such a fix, Hacker should have won!
Yes an intellectual dog.
You do realise that it was the puppeteer or an actor who was answering?
Next your going to tell me about Santa and Mickey Mouse.

Magnus Magnusson must be turning is his grave,

Its the first time that a puppet has been on. Will we will get the likes of Sooty & Sweep, Basil Brush and Parker in subsequent shows

My point was, if the puppeteer came on as himself you'd say "who?" So he has to come on in character obviously.

Argh!! I know what I meant!

Exactly the same thing happened last Christmas - people most viewers had never heard of, not even household names in their own households, poor ratings - why has it been brought back ?
David Dickinson used to have a good catchphrase for the reason why - "Cheap As Chips".

The BBC doesn't aim particularly high anymore does it, foisting such limp fare on viewers. They've trashed what used to be a highly commendable and iconic BBC programme brand. Magnus would be appalled that HIS show has become nothing more than sub z list tinsel teatime filler.

Do we know this for sure? He had a good sense of humour,

Note this isn't Mastermind, its celebrity mastermind and on at Christmas when we all have an old fashioned thing called.....fun.

Worth looking at this and who has appeared on it..

Hacker T Dog isn't funny - just very, very irritating.
Agreed. And my former 7 year old self agrees too.

Not quite sure what Djalili thought of it, he was hardly trying.

This was the TISWAS version of Mastermind.

Who'd have thought adorable Hacker would have caused such a fuss I was expecting his specialist subject to be Sue Barker, but I'm glad he got to answer her in the General Knowledge section.

Also, it must take an incredible amount of skill to answer questions while (cough) puppeteering, and almost win. For all the naysayers, feel free to blame the standard of the other poor contestants, not the rather scholarly Hacker

There was once a Weakest Link episode that had all puppets on so it's not exactly new.

To add to this incorrect post...

A rating from Christmas 2015 an episode 23/12

19:00 Celebrity Mastermind: 4.27m (21.8%)

That is not a poor rating!

John Humphries in charitable mood allowing Ireland instead of Northern Ireland as a 'home nations' answer.

The general knowledge questions are ridiculously easy on the celebrity version. never mind a puppet dog, even Joey Essex would look like a genius if he appeared on this show.

The run hasn't finished yet. There's still time!

I expected Djahlili (sp) to be a bit cleverer than the impression he gave, or was he being deliberatly obtuse?

Tonight.

John Humphrys asks the questions as four famous faces brave the black chair.

CBBC's Lauren Layfield answers questions on the Jurassic Park films,
broadcaster and journalist David Aaronovitch on The Archers,
BBC Breakfast's Tim Muffett on the films of Danny Boyle and
double Paralympic gold medallist Kadeena Cox on Arsenal FC.

Hacker.
