Dear oh dear kadeena cox, one of the worst mastermind contestants of all time. The arsenal questions were not even hard, i got most of them right and i am not even an arsenal fan...
She got none of her general knowledge questions right. Is that a record?

That's Ruff.

I would be mortified not getting one question right. I don't think I'd be able to go outside my home and have the curtains closed for at least 6 months.

How could they mess up her specialist subject? Did they change it at the last minute or something?

Oh dear! How embarrassing for the poor girl.
Why on earth did Kardeena sign up for Mastermind?

Did she just accidentally reveal that contestants get to see the questions before the show, certainly seems like it. The only way that her comment makes sense is if she was expecting different questions...

I don't think they'd be allowed to do that. Maybe she was expecting much easier questions like in what city is Arsenal football grounds. She probably would have got that wrong as well.

Her charidee is probably in negative equity after her performance.

So they messed up her specialist subject because they asked her questions she didn't know the answer to, that makes sense

John Humphreys has always struck me as a person who would not suffer fools gladly or the dumbing down of BBC television. I'd like to see him offer a defence for this rubbish. An easy paycheck clearly. It's the kind of thing I could easily imagine him writing an acerbic article about in the press if he wasn't host. They don't even make it a proper competition with rounds for God's sake, with every show getting a winners trophy, so it doesn't even have a decent competitive structure involved. It's been mentioned that it's "a bit of fun" just because it's near Christmas. Since when does anyone think "what's a fun show on the box tonight?" and think Mastermind would be the answer!

4.5 million viewers enjoy it, its Christmas, its light entertainment.

I'm always reminded of this routine by Dylan Moran whenever I watch Humphreys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTpeWA_mfcA @ 35s

She specified a date range, perhaps they did not stick to that or she had asked for something else.

Unfortunately lack of general knowledge seems to be very common nowadays, some of the teams on University Challenge are very poor at general knowledge.

The other three did not do too bad.

It is for charity.

They normally restrict the topic in some way, usually a date range, they could have got that wrong.

So just like every Celebrity Pointless and probably some other charity specials.

John Humphreys has a good sense of humour, even Paxman shows a lighter side in the Christmas University Challenge programmes.

Do they still have General Studies A level? That was challenging. None of this set of samples would have a clue.

I answered more questions right about Arsenal than the Arsenal fan

The standard of celebrities is especially poor this year, over half must already be employed by the BBC and they're mostly obscure anyway. When Celeb Mastermind first started the calibre was much higher.

I think Marlene Clas (?) failed to answer any correct a few years ago but got everyone on her specialist subject correct .

I think all the celebrities are well known, if you look online the history of the show has a good level. Of course ITV often have clauses in their contracts preventing their stars coming on, as they want them on their quiz shows like Mr and Mrs, The Chase etc.

Tonight isn't all BBC.

John Humphrys asks the questions as four famous faces brave the black chair.

Mitch Benn answers questions on Peter Cook, BBC News presenter

Reeta Chakrabarti on the life and poetry of John Keats,

one half of Sam and Mark, Mark Rhodes, on the World Wrestling Federation and

double Olympic triathlon gold medallist Alistair Brownlee on the Yorkshire Dales.
