I think Paula would be brilliant, but I can't see Simon going for all judges over 50, two of which are in their 60s.

I don't care what anybody says - Simon, Louis and Sharon were the absolute dream team.”

It absolutely was. The only panel that has come close is Sharon, Louis, Nicole and Gary.

I think all of the panels which featured Dannii Minogue were massively overrated. Nothing against her, but the series 4 panel was uncomfortable and I found the Cheryl/Dannii panel dull. It was also verging on uncomfortable with some of the treatment of Dannii, especially during series 5.

I quite liked the year with Kelly Rowland too. It all went a bit pear shaped towards the end but she had a brilliant start and did a good job on the US version. If they can't get Nicole back, I wouldn't mind seeing Kelly take the fourth spot.

paula abdul was absolutely terrible on the last series of XF US she did

almost incomprehensible at times and came across like she had really lost the plot , people shouldn't be judging her based on how she was on AI 10 years ago

Kelly did work well on the US show with Simon, so she could be a possibility. I think Rita, Nicole or Demi Lovato are most likely though.

We all know how much he hates Cheryl

I always thought Nicole was a great judge, so would love her to do it. I love Rita, but she brought nothing to the show last year, in my opinion.

If we could have Simon, Louis, Sharon and Nicole, I think it would be the best judging panel they've ever had personally.

I just hope they can fix the show. It was the must watch TV event every year up until 2010. It's sad to see how much it's declined. BGT is the much better show these days and part of the reason is because they have a strong and consistent panel of judges, which is what The X Factor needs. Really hope Sharon does it, as she's fabulous. ”

Agree. I just hope TPTB see it that way as well!

Rita was ok, but her voice after a while started to grate, and she isn't actually very humorous, whereas Nicole (when she's on form) is laugh out loud funny

I wouldn't mind one of JLS as a judge - I prefer them to ID

Though I agree Simon, Sharon, Louis and Nicole would be good

I think the best panels were up to around 2009.

I hated Sharon when she came back. She looked like a witch with all that surgery and wsa over the top for the sake of it, rather than in a funny and entertaining way.

I do think there needs to be a greater bias on the panel for people who know about the industry, rather than former (or might-as-well-as-be) former pop stars.

i think there needs to be a greater bias on the panel to people that aren't in cowell's pocket and might actually give honest critiques

far too much nepotism going on "keeping things in the XF family" rather than getting the best people is whats wrong

Nope, Gary won't be doing it - he has too many on his plate: new TT album this year, greatest hits album and tour next year, some musicals, a Las Vegas residency + the BBC show. I'm quite sure he tries to keep his career going, not to kill it with XF

The theory being that an old panel means the older audience comes flooding back.

What it means in reality is that they chase away even more of the 18-30s audience

It's looking more and more like Louis, Sharon, Nicole and Simon.

I wonder how much each judges demands are taken into account, i.e who they're on the panel with? I wonder if Louis, Sharon or Nicole suggested/demanded each other on the panel with them.

he may very well be back , what exactly is he going to offer the show tho ?

he hasn't had an original thought since the 90s , we can almost predict what he will say 4 months before the show airs

I think louis is fun. He doesn't take it seriously either
None if the judging panel have an original thought either. It's a show full of clichés not just Louis.

I remember there being discussions on here when it was thought that the XF should be a bit more technical....i.e. more emphasis on the actual technicalities of the singing etc, which is where GB was supposed to come in....

Though I think tbh if the XF suddenly went all profesional and had serious people on the panel that were all singing teachers, the show would bore everyone to tears!

I think its strength is in the "entertainment" of the show, the judges quips, the put downs, the judges chemistry, and lastly to some degree, the actual contestants!

well i'm maybe in a minority but i am sick fed up of having the panel tell some talentless scrub who cant hold a tune that they are going to be "the next big popstar" and from louis walsh that level of "critique" is all we are ever going to get

Whatever the panel would be the ratings will actually go down. Unless they get someone that could actually bring people back to watch the show.

It probably depends on how much they want that particular judge who is making the demands. Cheryl wouldn't return if Nicole was on the panel, and Rita would only join if Nick was a judge. Now it appears Louis will only come back if Sharon joins him, and if it's all about "chemistry" then they probably all just decided that Nicole is the best bet to fill the gap (if true), as its someone they all like. It would be a very safe panel which is what they need.

I'd agree.

I think they need to keep a judging panel the same for 3-4 years too. Not changing it every year. It's one of the reasons why BGT has become the better format.

They're probably going for more fun this year if that's the panel.

I disagree. For me Sharon and Louis are both part of the past. The show needs some new faces who are influence in the current music scene. Grimshaw was an experiment that hasn't work well. They should have seen that a radio host isn't a good choice for a x factor judge but should try to get more current artist or legends on.
