...... I was telephoned by Virgin to tell me that V+ was coming to an end and we would be receiving a TiVo box. Well it has been a flipping annoying experience. The box has some irritating features which admittedly can be switched off but it takes a little while before you realise how annoying they are. The EPG is horrible clearly being designed for a large television.

Now for the TV problems, we run a second television, on the face of it this can only be accomplished over HDMI, however we have a distributed UHF system. It was no problem to hook up a modulator and convert the signal, however the second television was an old 14" and the menus were hard enough to see on our main television. So we picked up a good deal on a Samsung 19" which seems okay. One further problem the IR. We already used a Powermid to send it out and it works tolerably well with the TiVo if you spend half an hour getting it in the right place. Now for another 'however', the standby command does not pickup. It's no big problem just an irritation.

So does the TiVo work, well yes but it's not a patch on the V+ box for ease of use and functionality.

You haven't mentioned what these irritating features are which you switched off.

Don't know why you think the EPG is horrible and says it is clearly designed for a large television, are you saying it's too small to read properly?

Apart from that, it's not really a TiVo review, more to do with the difficulties you have incorporating it into your existing unconventional setup.
