Hello
I have a Humax Foxsat hdr that has started to hang or rather trip and stop sometimes.
I have replaced the hdd and put on Radons firmware but it still does it sometimes.
I have heard that psu capacitors can be a problem, is this likely. It is a pw808 psu.
Any one any ideas please.
Thanks

The foxsat-HDR is not known to have power supply capacitor issues. It's the Foxsat-HD that does. You could try renaming the time shift buffer file (0.ts). This will force a new buffer file to be created on another area of the hard disk. What replacement drive did you fit ?

A new buffer would have been started on the new wiped hdd. It is a wd2500 sata, used but wiped.
Any other ideas.

What is the exact model number ?

Which version of Sata is it ? 1, 2 or 3 ?

Is it a AV specced drive. PC drives will work for a while but usually fail prematurely.

I know a new buffer will have been created. If the drive isn't AV specced the continously written time shift file is often the first sign of issues. A duff 0.ts produces symptoms as you describe. Renamimg it is the easiest way to eliminate the file.

I have gone back to the original hdd as supplied by Humax and as you suggested I renamed the 0.ts file to temp.ts. When I plugged it in and switched it on, it started to boot, custom firmware4.12, but tripped after 10 secs. I switched on from the remote and it has been working for a few hours now. Whats the most demanding way to give it a test now.
Thanks

As you have the CF. Run the built in maintenance mode hard disk File System check and repair utility. Details in the CF documentation (The books icon).

Firstly update CF to latest version.

Which version did you flash and where did you get it from ? Latest is here.

Once flashed and the Foxsat rebooted, entering the box IP address into pretty well any browser should log into the box and auto install the full interface.

That is where I downloaded it from, I logged onto the Humax and from the web interface tried to download the full web interface. It did say installed but something then went wrong and no full web interface is available just the offer to instal full web interface but I cant. I have rebooted it, still no good.
Can I go back to original firmware and start again.
If I understood ftp I could look at the flash on the box.

You still have the original firmware. flashing the CF re-installs the latest Humax firmware. The CF code does not affect the normal operation of the box in any way.

Did you find the IP address used by your Foxsat from the box menus ? It will look something like 192.168.0.23. I take it you have a network connection to your Foxsat (without this you cannot easily go further) ?

If you open say Internet Explorer and type the above number in the address bar. it should login to the Foxsat and install the full web interface.

The network is connected, I can access the box but only as far as the simple web interface that offers to download and install the full web interface. It wont go any further and most times says error 404 url not known but sometimes I can click on the button to install full web interface.but nothing happens.

I cleared the cache in seamonkey and now the full web interface is working perfectly so now I need to find out how to check the hdd.
You have been a realy great help so I will say thank you now in case you tire of this problem. The box though is fully working at present. So thank you.

You need to set your browser to refresh the data rather than display cached pages.
