Does anyone know if it's possible to replace a failed backlight in the LCD display? I opened it up to see if it was a simple bulb, but the light must be in the sealed LCD panel.

My Bug is still in daily use as a bedside radio. Everything works as well as it ever did
Any suggestions for a replacement? I'd like one that does Internet radio as well as DAB, but I'd also like to be able to rewind live radio, assuming anyone still provides this facility. |

As for old radios they are like us and only have a limited time on this earth, you have to be realistic vinnielo, it's time to part with your faithful Bug and send it to that great radio museum in the sky.
R.I.P. Little Bug it's time to go into the light. ![]() These things are solid state. We are surely not at the position of accepting that such equipment has a life expectancy as limited as this? Especially now that we live in ecco -aware times and the need to avoid needless waste is better understood than ever? My 1960 Phillips set required a new valve about 10 years ago, but at almost 60 years old its still serviceable. Modern solid state equipment -like the the Roberts 3band set I bought in 1996 (still in daily use with no attention) should be well enough engineered to expect better longevity than the technology they replaced . It's a sad reflection on consumer electronics and a definate step backwards if we as customers accept that a radio won't live for 20 years. |
