There the reason I don't watch this show as much as I used to. Theres just soo much singers that when they show a marathon of them I just go on my iPad hoping something different will come up next act. One of the reason I love BGT over X Factor or the Voice is because it can be ANYTHING. But I just watched Saturday's episode On Demand and I got bored.

Nothing against singers I love their voice and talent, its just there in so much abundance, I literally get bored. If not can they at least limit it? I want more surprising acts.

I agree, this issue comes up every year, if we want to watch singers we have two shows dedicated to just that we don't need them on bgt as well. I can sort of understand why the singers enter this show over the x factor because it is much easier to win and you don't have the same level of competition, however the show shouldn't allow it, if it's an opera singer for example then that is fine but any 'normal' singer should be on the x factor/voice unless they can't enter either of those due to age for example.

They shouldn't be banned, they just need to be toned down a bit. The last 2 shows have ended with singing acts, tonight the last 2 acts were singing acts, it's too much.

My problem is that they put too many through. 1 for each Semi-Final is more than enough in my opinion. We don't need so many of them to go through.

Depends on the type of singing, surely?

The impression guy and the choirs aren't acts you'd ever see on X Factor or The Voice

yes you get enough singing on X Factor and The Voice

NO its a talent show to cater for all types of acts, and that includes singers.

There is also The Voice Kids coming up which if ITV run it in Summer is effectively going to mean an all year round talent train, all of which involve singers. Talent shows have become the main variety source on tv(certainly ITV), but maybe this will be testing its popularity to the limit.

No. It's a variety show. All variety shows include singers.

I think there's a difference though. On BGT you had that married couple who performed a swing version of Crazy In Love, and then got David's golden buzzer.

That would never happen on X Factor or The Voice and, regardless of whether you loved or loathed it, it was very much a BGT act.

It's when you get lads aged between 18-24 going on BGT and sing ballads, that's when I feel BGT has lost its way. Isn't that what X Factor is for?

Maybe certain contestants get preferential treatment i.e. applied for X Factor, were told they were too good to do big band week, disco week, ABBA week, Eurodance week etc...and told to audition for BGT instead - or perhaps just got a free pass straight to the live audition in front of the judges?!!! You can never tell.

Which is in the title of the show. The show's about talent, which very good singing is. I thought last night's episode had a good balance between singers and other acts.

Yes but how many singers are they gonna put throught to the next round least they can do is cut them from the episode. There in as much supply as water.

It's not much variety when it's mainly singers and not even very interesting ones doing it.

I know not many people liked the impressionist guy last night but at least he took a singing act out of the usual sob story/kid/wit guitar singers we get constantly

If they deserve to go through they should go through. They should then pick two for each semi final

There is also the trend of young opera singers these days too. At this point in time I would only except a singer if accompanied by a band. BGT needs more rock bands

I'd rather ban acts that smash dozens of tile with their bare hands, and similar. Just because most people couldn't do it, that doesn't mean it's entertaining.

As nice as that would be, Simon has no interest in rock bands. One Direction, Little Mix, Fleur, Olly Murs, Teletubbies... If he could market a rock band at tweens then there'd maybe be a chance, providing they're willing to surrender any creativity they once had and do a covers album.

I don't claim to, any more than you do. Like you, I am only stating my own point of view.
