since when, from me I associate it with a very pleasant evening when as Chairman of the PTA of a local senior school, I hosted a dance for the parents at which two of the committee members played the very number, no-one complained oir even commented, other than how nice it was to hear that number play so well.
BTW among other things the number reached No. 5 on the Hot Country Singles chart at the same time it was on the Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary Singles charts. It was also nominated for the 30th Golden Globe Awards in the Best Original Song category, now would a number associated with rape really have achieved all THAT
Since 1972

Premier Inn(?) I think, with those people excited about going to Slough.

Let me stop you there - I've been there. It's a s***hole that is one of the few places that would be involved by a bomb explosion.

Why would *anybody* use their service after what happened last year?
Slough is my kind of town
I don't know how anyone could put it down?

or it could be that like a lot of young colored kids of that age that I have met, she just has an enormous chip on her shoulder , when I ran a guest house we had two girls like that, no matter how many times we told them, "Don't pile up your plates and then leave most of it, take a smaller amount and come back for more" they would just look at us and carry on loading their plates and wasting most of it.
I agree with you that is terrible and wasteful behaviour.

I'd reckon it's most likely they had the attitude of, "We're on holiday and we've paid for this, so we'll take as much or as little as we want".

This kind of attitude can be seen in all age groups, but for me personally, I'd say I've seen this kind of attitude displayed most by the baby-boomer generation, certainly the younger half of the boomer generation (ie the one who are now 55-65 years old).

This demographic (55-65 years olds approx) seem to have the worst attitude and a chip on their shoulder. Generally they seem to hate the elderly - or at least the cost of the elderly, whilst have a poor opinion on those younger than them with opinions such as the 30-50 years old don't work as hard as they do, or that anyone under 30 is a waster or are wrongfully entitled.

I don't know why their attitude is so negative. Maybe its because they are unhappy with the way the world is today (this was the generation who were going to change the world) or maybe with the current financial situation they are worried about their retirement, and instead of blaming their own generation for the situation (ie their own generation have been in political power since 1997 with Tony Blair & Brown) they blame everything but themselves (young people, elderly people, foreigners, the internet ect), and thus their terrible and pessimistic view on things.

Again before anyone has a go, I'm talking generally, that the younger half of the baby boomer generation are the most dissatisfied and discontented demographic in Britain today. I'm sure they are plenty of individual examples of happy, contented 55-65 year olds, who repect elderly people and want to see those younger than them do well. Sadly though I think those people are in a minority. If they are the majority then they are centainly the silent majority.

Betjeman did,
"Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough!
It isn't fit for humans now,
There isn't grass to graze a cow.
Swarm over, Death!
Come, bombs and blow to smithereens
Those air -conditioned, bright canteens,
Tinned fruit, tinned meat, tinned milk, tinned beans,
Tinned minds, tinned breath."

He's the only cabbage round here. And they made him a knight of the realm. Overrated.

.
more to do with their culture, where in a country with the majority of people starving, the rich show how rich they are by the amount of food that they waste, much like English people in the Middle Ages, "The rich man at his table, the poor man at his gate" yes waiting for the "Waste" food the the rich man threw out to the peasantry

I once served on an "Equality Committee", where we had all religions, and races, Sikhs, Hindus, muslims, Caribbeans, various Africans, East & West Europeans, I am a Jew from Hungary.
One of the most sensible comments that was made was by a Jamaican guy, he commented how as a Jew I never got offended by slang terms for Jews, (Yes I am a Jew, a Yid, a front wheel skid, a Red sea pedestrian, so what, it does worry me) his closing comments was, "If all us blacks and colors stopped being so precious about what we are called and started calling ourselves n*ggers, the word would soon lose the power to hurt, the same as you Jews".
Most people who I hear taking offense at a word are not member of the groups being refereed to, but rather taking offense on their behalf and telling them that THEY should be offended

That stupid old git in his Stannah stair chair pretending to throw the ball to his dog.

Not surprised the dog ran to get his food instead.

Duelling banjos on the co op advert. Sorry but for most people that song it associated with rape
so do you associate the British National anthem with celebration of the slaughter of Scottish people, after all it was written for that very purpose, Verse 6

Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring
May he sedition hush
And like a torrent rush
Rebellious Scots to crush
God save the King

it is nation's anthem that encourages genocide against a part of that nation, or even the slaughter of another nation.

The ad for Sharpies is annoying with the lad writing his name on everything in indelible marker. Were supposed to believe he wrote his name on every sheet of toilet roll,(rolls eyes)

The oxo stock cube ad.
Because of the behaviour of that girl - why not just say oooh it's lovely thank you.

But mostly because of the pronunciation of "roll" (napkins not kitchen roll) - she says "rowal" and it really makes me want to punch the TV.

the ad for the Set-top box that "Allows you to watch one program while recording three others" THREE I have trouble finding even one worth watching, but a friend of mine used to do things like that, in fact he recorded everything and only watched them alter, he never watch anything in real time including the News, in the end he has got so far behind that he thinks that Maggie Thatcher is still Prime Minister

It obviously doesn't occur to them that any of the children we must keep away from watching the advert are going to think it's fine to write all over everything in indelible pen.
The genius of the advertising agency is a constant source of amazement

I know that MY step-son should have been kept away felt-tipped markers, he wrote all over one wall of his bed-room, at the age of FIFTEEN years
