I don't know about adverts raising money for cancer research, but I certainly hate the advert about prostate cancer and I have it, the ad is humiliating, degrading and puerile, unlike the adverts referring to female cancers which are supportive

That F***ING Alberto Balsam ad that's on during Four in a Bed! I quickly reach for that fast forward button as soon as the woman is on the screen!

I know someone mentioned it earlier, but it didn't click with me until now... that woman on the bathroom advert says, "it's where I did my best ever wee"

What the ****?! I had to do a double take, it's like a totally normal advert up until that point.

World's gone crazy.

Dr Shipman would have been classed as Elite based on career.

Reminds me of the advert back in the day "Grass stains! You Hussy!"

And women have the right to say 'no' when offered parts in them.

Don't know what the advert is for exactly (wine gums or summit?), but the one where adults are talking and their voices are dubbed with kids' voices. Awful.

Haribo. One of the actors in it drinks in my local, I had no idea he was actor until I saw this.

They shouldn't, i'm saying they have the choice, the right to say no.

If you make a choice, be prepared to stick by it and be praised and criticised equally. It all comes down to money at the end of the day.

Further to the other points, we also don't strictly know all the most annoying adverts were produced solely by men. I accepted that posters point that there are more men in advertising because I have heard that before too (though I don't actually know), but that doesn't mean some of these ads aren't in fact made by women. Either way, I don't know what the hell is going on in some of their heads! As mentioned, that bathroom ad where the woman says she had her 'best ever wee', which moron wrote that, seriously? Did they get their kid to write it for them?

"In 2008, just 3.6% of the world’s creative directors were female."

There are plenty of women employed in the advertising industry, but I'm assuming they're mostly as PAs, secretaries and receptionists (with heels) because the 'creative' side is male-dominated to a ludicrous degree. The fact is that these 'anti-men' adverts are created by men for women because women make the majority of purchasing decisions in a household. I actually think there'd be far less of this 'reverse sexism' if there were more women involved in the creative side of advertising!

It's got people talking.

Most adverts (and modern day pop songs) are written by morons to get a response and to get noticed and it makes people very rich and famous.

Morons, yes, but rich morons and they will continue to do so if people continue to go and buy the products.

Some people are strong enough and moral enough to say no and then their are those that accept the gig as it were, which they have every right too, but they must accept criticism and praise in equal amounts if need be. I know I wouldn't accept a job that was based on belittling a gender/race/nation etc etc and someone having their best ever wee would not make me buy their product, but then no advert actually does.

You're right of course, I understand that, even as I was writing to say how stupid the ad was, I realised it was almost certainly done to get people talking and it obviously works, I just think it's a sad state of affairs that they feel the need to add in pathetic childish parts to their ads to get noticed. It's like an adult throwing a babyish strop to get what they want, you might notice it- it's loud and annoying, it'd be impossible not to, but that doesn't mean you have to like it, and it's not going to make me personally, any more likely to buy a bathroom off them, just because I remember their awful advert. In the end I will still just buy the products that I like the most, at the best price I can find.

I think annoying adverts can work for companies like say confused.com because if you remember it, it'll probably be the first site you think of when you want to compare insurance, but for a big purchase like a bathroom, I can't help thinking they wouldn't just be better off showing you the styles they do and the prices and leave out the gimmicks. I'm not going to spend a ton of cash on a new bathroom if they don't have the best price and/ or style I want, just because I happen to remember their immature advert.

That's some statistic, I think you may have a point there and as I said, I did believe it when someone mentioned it because I had also heard it before, I was just making the point that we still can't say for sure. For all I know, a panel of women came up with some of these ads I hate. Still, if seeing men humiliated and made to look stupid is what gets some women buying, what exactly is that saying about these women or indeed these ad mens view of women?!

To be sure what we'd need are statistics on whether adverts that make men look like clueless chumps make women more well disposed to the product being advertised - I'm inclined to believe not, by and large, but maybe that's me wearing rose-tinted glasses! In my opinion, the problem is not with women the adverts are targetting, but with the cynical, patronising attitudes of advertisers (who are overwhelmingly men) who assume these tactics will work. Being Cynical and Patronising - It's What We Do (to coin a phrase).

That is indeed an odd advert as their mouths are MAHOOSIVE and enhanced with the bright red lipstick. Whenever the ad comes on I find myself trying to mimic their ridiculous smiles and its impossible. No one in the entire world smiles like that ... or they would get locked up.

Unfortunately their are a many a person who will fall for the advert and it's gimmicks, whether easily swayed, mental ill health, elderly or otherwise.

Some of the adverts miss out important information or are economical with the truth and think a bit of humour or a person not wearing much etc etc will hide the truth, but we're not all that gullible.

I'm the same with money - if it fits what I think something is worth, then I may buy it, but not based on an advert.

Fortunately, i'm married to a woman who is much more critical of discrimination (and card playing/being fake offended) than me. She hates adverts/people that think they talk for all women or human beings. It's a shame that our society is all about one-up(wo)manship.
