I won't even mention the fact that you have picked PURELY on my comments, and not said ANYTHING about the poster's comments who I was replying to, because I am sure you have your reasons for picking on me alone.

And you go on merrily endorsing and supporting obesity, claiming 'big is beautiful,' and that there is no harm whatsoever in carrying around extra stones of excess fat on your body and around your heart, liver, kidneys and lungs, and accuse anyone who thinks it's unattractive and unhealthy of 'body shaming. '

Meanwhile *I* will continue to look after myself, eat healthily, exercise regularly, and stay slim, so I don't need to make excuses for being obese, and blame anything but my overeating and laziness.

'Body shaming' is merely a phrase used by the most ardent feminists to attack anyone who thinks being obese is unnecessary and unattractive. Which it is.

People are entitled to their own opinions. Sorry if that offends you little snowflakes.
Well bully for you, I was a size 10 a few years ago, always was, but disability and illness and medication has caused me to put on 5 stone and become a size 18 over the last decade, I hope that never happens to you. I am not a snowflake, I am not lazy, just a woman who now happens to be larger than I was before. how nice you can exercise, have fun whilst it lasts.

Great post Jane. I too am overweight but am actually trying to do something about it rather than blaming the 2 G's (genes and glands). And how come nobody mentions the body shaming of slim women by larger ones....as though "real women" can't be slim??
Thanks lainey.

Even though a few people do gain weight because of medicines and illness; they are few and far between, and the vast majority of people CAN help their size. It's just a matter of will power, and not kidding themselves that they look great and are perfectly healthy.

As for 'disabilities causing obesity;' I don't really know anyone who has ever become obese through disability to be honest, but I have seen plenty of people develop disabilities/become disabled through being obese, Why would anyone become obese purely because of a disability?

I see plenty of disabled people - in wheelchairs, and amputees etc who stay fairly slim. And like you, I see many blaming genes and glands and medicines and all sorts - as well as disability. But in reality, very few are actually obese for any reason other than being inactive, over-eating, and leading sedentary lives,

As I said, I am sick of obesity being celebrated, sick of anyone saying it's unhealthy and unattractive being accused of 'fat-shaming,' and sick of it being ok to slate thin people, but a mortal sin to slate the obese. And as you said, I am also sick of bigger women or 'curvy' women being called REAL WOMEN, like thin and skinny women are not real women.

the new 'disney life' advert.....they pick the most annoying kids for these type of things
God yeah, the girl that sings the Lion King song is so annoying!

Kids shouldn't be allowed to advertise anything, ever! It's bad enough being told what to do and buy by adults!

A fairly new ad that I've seen that is irking me is the new one for MOONPIG, with that blonde 40-something woman who is gushing over Moonpig cards. She says - at the end of the ad, in a really soppy condescending manner - 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM!!!' And the whole time she is talking, she is constantly SMILING!

ARGH! So annoying!
does she not have a program like Corol Draw, that is what I use to design my cards, cost almost nothing, just the postage, tip; put a little square of glue where the stamp would have been, then they will think that the stamp fell off, simples

He is. And he's sweating that she'll pick something not on the meal deal menu to boot. If he was that skint / tight he shouldn't have offered to buy her lunch. Silly boy!

Really? Oops, serves me right for hitting the mute button! I thought it was one of those 'shop here and meet nice people' type things where he sees the deal and offers half to a stranger because it's such an amazing deal and she is attractive too...?

Sorry, with the mute button you get to write your own script and there's also the issue of 'subway' being a less-used word* in the UK and a rewrite to the local lingo would have it as 'meet women at your local pedestrian underpass', taking it in a rather different direction and probably being a tad more expensive than a chip roll

* there's a thread in GD somewhere dedicated to it, no need to drag this one down to that level

Don't know if it's a regional advert but I've seen one for Longleat Safari Park pop up a lot recently, with a lion walking down a red carpet flanked by safari staff.
The CGI is absolutely atrocious, to the point where it actually hurts my eyes to look at.
Surely someone must have noticed how awful it looked before signing it off, and if so why go ahead with what is so obviously an eyesore?

Ooh never seen that one before.
I love seeing terrible CGI on adverts. Reminds me that technology hasn't progressed that much.

Complained about that one, just a really crap advert!

“Nice work Casanova” Yeah, real modern day Casanova that one- takes his date to subway, then pees his pants over what she might order

What kind of nutjob worries about someone ordering the entire menu anyway, who would even do that?

What’s with all the “touchably” stuff? “For touchably soft hair”, “for touchable volume” As opposed to what? Untouchable softness? Same with “visibly reduces aging”, as opposed to invisibly reducing aging?

All these cosmetics, creams and shampoo ads are so full of garbage, I’m surprised they aren’t done for false advertising. Olay with their “reduces the seven signs of aging”. Are these signs scientific then, or just something they plucked out of their arses, and is there anyone left in 2016 that actually believes smothering a cream on their face will make them look younger?

They also like telling us that everything needs to be “hydrated”. You know, as a bloke, I’ve never bothered with any of this shit, and my skin is just fine, and I’ve never felt like it needed “hydrating", well unless you count showering, but I find it's usually best to dry yourself afterwards

I dont even know why anyone would want to buy a crappy overpriced card and even then you cant sign the card unless you have it sent to you.

And another thing about those bloody cleaner ads. The 2 types seem to have picked up 2 entirely different kinds of dirt!

The upright picks up fluff and strands which are 'compacted into tidy bales' while the handheld picks up some kind of grit, probably cat litter.

Which just shows how useless the upright would be in picking up anything solid.

And, from my experience with a Dyson, try to overload a handheld with fluff and strands and you'll spend ages digging out with a bloody stick.

One thing I have noticed by the ad and Mr Dyson is bloody simple!

It's the Lawyery Word, common in many adverts.

"Visibly" reduces wrinkles was one that bothered me; it either reduces wrinkles or it doesn't, I used to think. The blinding moment of revelation came when I realised that plastering over your wrinkles with Polyfilla would "visibly" reduce them without actually reducing them, in the sense of making them go away.
I give them grudging respect for their cunning.

Being a Grammar Nazi isn't necessarily a BAD thing

Yes, they are crafty sods aren't they

Now I've got an advert trying to scare me into wearing UV protection 'daily'. Why the hell would I wear it daily unless I was out in the sun for extended periods each day? ...and there was something on the news the other day about people being deficient in vitamin D from lack of sun exposure.

Stay out of the sun... go out in the sun... phew, it's tough living in 2016 sometimes!

I can't comment on the handheld.

The upright would have to be the most useless thing ever. It's not bad on pet hair or fluff, but is totally defeated by grit, cat litter or anything remotely solid. It spits it all over the place.

It also fills remarkably quickly and starts spitting everything back onto the floor.

I sent mine back after a couple of weeks and then had a fight to get a refund. They kept telling me how wonderful it was until I sent them a video of it spitting things out everywhere. The video and a threat to contact Trading Standards got me a rapid refund.

Command Picture Hanging Strips. Another boring tedious predictable time lapse advert. Couple meet, couple get wed, she gets knocked up, babies appear, rock babies to sleep, babies start walking, babies have babies, couple become grandparents............ *yawn*
