That Nationwide advert featuring the black guy with the most nauseating speaking voice you've ever heard in your entire life.

Clearscore, a talking dog in Crocs and an annoying voiced lazy cow who never gets off the sofa.
Samsung/Jack Whitehall could he be any more offensively patronising? Staysure, I see the gurning, simpering woman with the 84 year old mother with arthuritus is back. Sun Life where the daughter ambushes her parents separately about their funeral arrangements. The acting is appalling as is the concept of a couple who don't actually talk to each other. If the husband noticed that his wife had a new phone would he not ask about it? Nationwide - why? |

I don't care if she is easy on the eye that bl**dy SCS girl is unbelievably irritating. And I don't want to hear ANYTHING about the "festive season" in September.
![]() Why on earth would having a new couch "matter" for Christmas ?? What's next - new car for Easter? A boob job for New Year's Eve ? There was an ad for a fabric conditioner some years ago - where a guy who was supposed to be on a long-haul flight did not want to get up and walk around as "people might see the creases in my trousers" So the advertisers think that the public believe it is a good idea to risk getting a deep vein thrombosis and dying in agony, just so a few complete strangers on a plane don't see that there might be few creases in your trousers if you get up and stretch your legs (as you are medically advised to do) |

Argh!!!!!! The Barnardos ad. with THE most nauseating version of Tears For Fears' 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' by a female who a) can't sing, b) has a voice that sounds like she's on 150 fags a day, d) sounds like she's just woken up from a coma and d) has a speech impediment. I nearly punched the TV screen!!!!

I wonder who at Confused.com or their advertising agency thought it would be a good idea to flog car insurance using a backing song written and performed by a bloke who died in a car crash?

As regards japanese translations, on here I get squares with codes in them and no sign of a bird flapping its wing ("medifus"?) or urinating dogs. It all displays correctly on the other box but I get a distinct impression that what was really wanted was the extra-short version of the expressed sentiment which I expect, much like the english version, has a greater syllabic simplicity. |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Bolan#Death "Something Inside so Strong", by Labi Siffre is a vicious attack on Apartheid in South Africa, but has recently been used in several adverts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B-4Lsrx8IA It was also covered by Rik Waller from Pop Idol - an overweight white guy - which REALLY misses the point |

The Dad is Jeremy Swift, I recognise him from being Barry in "The Smoking Room" , more recently he was in Downton Abbey.
I first thought it was Tiger's dad in Benidorm. |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Bolan#Death The final clip of James Dean in the BMW ad is from the end of the original PSA when Dean goes:- "Drive safe kids, the next life you might save might be mine, you know." Screen fades to black with the 'might save might be mine' echoing over and over. The screen fades back in from black to show the new BMW car (M3?) with a sombre voiceover saying:- "If only he had a car with front & rear airbags, side impact bars, {another 2 or 3 safety features}. If only the icon of the 50's... was driving the icon of the 90's" If this isn;t cashing in on someones death then I don't know what is. |

You think thats inappropriate. Back in the mid 1990's the South African division of BMW ran an advert starting James Dean (via using clips from a safe driving PSA that Dean had done in the USA shortly before his death in a road traffic accident).
The final clip of James Dean in the BMW ad is from the end of the original PSA when Dean goes:- "Drive safe kids, the next life you might save might be mine, you know." Screen fades to black with the 'might save might be mine' echoing over and over. If only the icon of the 50's... was driving the icon of the 90's" If this isn;t cashing in on someones death then I don't know what is. I suspect that as Marc Bolan died nearly 40 years ago most of the 30 somethings in the ad agency coming up with the Confused.com ad had probably either never heard of him or had no idea how he died, if they even knew he was no longer with us in the first place! They probably thought "oh that's a nice tune" and bunged it on the ad with no thought for the context. |

The new Vanquis advert set in olden times and booming voice but then referencing a tablet and modern terms is going to irritate very quickly.
Is there a smart TV that automatically mutes ads? |
